Do a big intercooler...in the inside engine bay. I said nothing about the Custom SMIC or any of the above. B/c all that is, is a more efficient, same size intercooler.
I think mounting an intercooler in the front and wrapping all that piping all around your ass just to get to the throttle body is stupid. You would get more gains w/ less pipe...is what I'm saying. Its just not very efficient.
sorry, but that's the dumbest thing ive ever heard. Unless you are talking about using a water-air intercooler, putting it inside the engine bay defeats the purpose; you may as well save piping and just not have one. And if you are talking about a water-air IC, then they are very small anyway.
An intercooler works by passing ambient air thru the fins, which takes heat away from the hot air inside the flow tunnels. Inside your engine bay = very little air movement, AND hot as ****. therefore, you wouldn't be cooling s***. Thus a big reason why our smic sucks butthole. if you want cool air, LET COOL AIR PASS THRU IT! it doesn't need to be huge unless your going for big numbers/high boost, but having it available to cooler outside air up front is wayyyyy better than in the hell-hole of the engine bay.
and as for piping, technically yes, more piping = more cooling, and more lag. however most kits are fairly direct and i do not notice hardly any lag at all with my fmic. Slightly more than stock, but un-noticeable except at very low-speed and low-rpm driving where it doesn't matter anyway.
you can get a 13452324x342432x3345" IC core if it could fit, but if its inside your engine bay, as soon as you warm the car up, it's not gonna help very much.
