custom molded dash....again!

Well some of you may have read my post on the 7.2" lcd molded in the center counsel. Well i have since bought a 7" touchscreen and remolded the new screen in, and also molded my deck into the cabin area, instead of how i had them in the glove box. Anyway heres some b4 and after pics.

lol, well maybe i will....but theres no real good way to putting the deck where the ashtray is. After you remove the ashtray/ciggerette lighter,(they are joined together), the space is like 3 to 4 inches deep,(with the ac ducts at the back)and the deck sticks out way too far, i know someone did it, but if you look close at the pic, it sticks out alot. Anyway, you cant see it in the pics above, but the 'box' slant down as it goes back, so it really does kinda flow nice, but yep it looks like a box in the pic.

Also, if you have seen pics of ssinstallers dash, i believe he put his where the vents are, i dont know about you, but with my staggering ac, i Needed my vents. Not that ssinstallers is bad, i think it looks good, but without those vents id be dying.... (shrug)
(p.s. correct me if im wrong on whos dash im talking about...)

you really think it was better having to have my glove box open when i wanted to do anything to the radio? it gets really annoying. Well its too bad you guys cant see it in person then tell me....it might have made a diff...maybe not. Oh well, I like it.

i'm going to put a flip up where the lighter and cig tray is and keep my factory radio with the xbox under the glove box

Don't show your dash to Mazda Engineers.... they would probably want to kill you.

I guess i will never understand why people insist on installing video displays in their car.... when i want to watch a movie, i turn on my home theater and serve myself a bowl of popcorn and a cold brew... can't do that legally in car ;-)

I will stick with audio only for my ride.

How about putting your headunit down in the cup holder? Its not the greatest spot, but it wont look like a tissue box on your dash. Besides you got 4 more in all your doors, add one if you wanna hold something between your legs. Also you could have a nice mold and it would be easy to replace because the cup holders section including the cutout for the e-brake comes right out, making it easier to build the mold. You could even leave space abover or below the HU to hold your menthol's.

Just a thought.

I like the way the screen looked before. It looked much cleaner. That box on top looks like a huge ass gold chain with spinner charm on the end of it. Just too out of place and guady. Try doing something like what I have done. I am not saying that mine is the best but I think that it looks more professional and custom. I had too cut my vents but you cannot tell any differance when using them. The car gets just as warm when I use the heater and the AC sucks allready. So you cannot tell the differance when using it. I realize that I have painted the piece like a body part which is alot more expensive but I'm sure you can figure out a way to keep the build cost down and accomplish what you need. You seem to have a good grasp on custom work. Try using a solution called dolphin glaze. It takes the place of fiberglass sheets . Gives you more stabillity in the piece. Then finish off with some bondo to get the piece like a body part. here is the pic of what I have. You have probally seen it before but here it is again. Keep up the good work.
