Custom Front Lip... What do you guys think?

Kansei said:
When looking at the actual side profile of the car the front bumper lower edge travels down as it goes toward the back of the car. If a lip doesn't compensate for this and is just the same thickness all the way back, it exaggerates that look and it's funny looking. The AutoEXE lip countered this by just totally covering up that part of the bumper and doing their own thing to sorta make it flow to the front edge of the sideskirt, though they didn't really do that good of a job with it.. only looks normal on the hatchback, makes the sedans look funny from the side.

Ok... That's what I thought he meant... Like I said, this design isnt done quite yet, and that taper will be taken into account for the final design. Right now I;m just trying to get the shape done the way I want it, then I can trim off the top at the correct angle so that the bottom lines up level with the ground.

The first foam carving will be made with about half or a quarter inch of extra material all around so that I can put it on the car and sand off the excess and have it line up with the rest of the car perfectly.

hey mang, went through all your designs and i saw that they look nice...by the way, if i can make a suggestion, would it be alright if you model some front lip like maybe from the wrx lines like the ones in the attachment?
Sorry but that style is what I dont want. I want something that looks like it was a "factory option", something that at first glance looks like part of the car. Those lips you posted were too "ricy" for my style.
But thatnks for the comments.

GMalatrasi... you need help with some stuff?

what is that inventor or solid works?

I'll need help with making the final mold, fiber-glassing, etc.
But untill I get this CAD model done, I should be ok, Thank you though.

The CAD program is called Catia by Dassault Systems, it's used to design mechanical parts and systems, mostly by aircraft and automobile companies.
It's more of an engineering application program than a 3D modeling program.
The interface is similar to solid works.

oh ok... all we use at work (lockheed martin) is solidworks and a program designed just for us... if you needed something with CAD i could def help. also if you were closer i could def help with making molds and fiberglassing (part of my job here) but your all the way in FL :(

I know... but I appreciate the offer.
When I started college (Embry-Riddle) I wanted to work for Lockheed Martin.
Now I switched from Aeronautical Eng. to Mechanical Eng. and I want to Build race cars.

I'll be working on it at the lab tonight, so I'll post the updates when I get back around 10:30-11:00pm.

(cool)

is that a limited production run i smell (naughty)

Well as soon as I can get access to the CNC milling machine I'll need some help with the final details and the fiber-glassing.
Anyone close to Daytona Beach, FL want to help out?
