did some looking around, found a sweet deal on a front mount.

ebay fmic kit for speed3/6 - $150 shipped.
ebay bov - $35 shipped.
a little mocking up and cutting / fabricating and we're good.
needed a little extra pipe and some 90 degree grommets.

notched the bumper, all i gotta do is cut some plastic off the inside of the bumper, and i'm golden. here's a pic of the thing mounted and in driving condition, just no bumper.

heh.

holy huge core batman! i think that intercooler cor is bigger then the one my brother is running on his 2jz tt motor!

I hope those things don't ruin your car, a great deal could lead to a very bad disappointment in the long run. I hope you are at the very least getting tuned.

there's no more lag than i had with the tmic. my boost gauge is on the fritz, need to reconnect it. but i was running consistent 14 psi with tmic, right after we did this i was getting like 10, peaking at 14. it's a huge intercooler, and a lot more piping, but this still pulls the same. bumper's on now. looks pretty damn good. fills that spot where the bottom black grill was pretty nice. pics soon.

why does everyone go straight to the "bent frame" senario? my little brother has been running his MSP with a cut crash bar for about 4 years now and there is NO bent frame. hell i know multiple high HP Mitsubishis, Subarus, Toyotas, Hondas, etc. (unibody cars) that have no crashbar and are still running as straight as they were when they left the showroom floor.

to the O.P., that is a huge core for the small turbos our cars have. a smaller core would do you wonders. less lag, less pressure drop and so forth. but for 180 bux hell i'd jump one one of these if i didnt have a custom one being bult as we speak.

While I'm not going to knock tony275 for what he's done, I do want to post in here to make sure other members know important facts about intercooler design. There is a lot more to intercooling than buying the cheapest (or biggest) item you can find and throwing it on the car.

I'm not going to take credit for the below. It is incredibly valuable information that has helped me apply thermal dynamics to auto applications.

If you would like to learn more about it, please visit the source:

say what you want but those are NOT the same cars and do NOT run the exact same chassis as this car does.

true but what gives the right for everyone else to say what they say about a unibody car and modding the front crach bar? have they experienced what happens to THESE chassis when you cut the crash bar or are they going by a different car with an entirly different chassis? i was just throwing in my $0.02 as was everyone else.

Keep in mind you get what you pay for, and $185. is not worth it to me to alter the structual integrtiy of my car.

when you talk to people who have proof of a cut crash bar leading to a somewhat warped frame (for this car) then that makes you not want to do it. I want to cut my crash bar to fit a larger ic, srsly i do, but i dont want to be careless when doing so. Soon enough my car will need to haul a family and keeping them safe first and foremost is my goal. I have 2 friends who have all been in accidents with other cars or animals and have come close to bodily harm due to modifications to the crash bar. But then again different car's so different story.

good point about keeping your family safe. that should be THE mais concern for anyone that is modding thier car. as far as cutting the front carsh bar to fit a large IC you acn probably get away with it by "trimming" the crash bar and not actually hacking it up and causeing the car to be unsafe.
