Cusco Camber Plates + Tokicos Installed

i think this wont work with Tein coilovers because the back uses the stock upper mount=(

Little update. Lowered the car back down after the Cusco plates raised it up about 3/4-1" and now I'm out of compression travel. The struts have about 1.5" inches of travel before they bottom out on the bumpstops(already cut in half). Ordering Konis for the front on Monday. Hopefully I can get it all sorted out soon... have a trackday in exactly 4 wks.

Strut tubes are in the mail and Konis are getting ordered tomorrow, yay.

Are you revalving the Konis, or are they setup the way you want them from the factory? Are you going to just insert them into the stock housings, or is this going to be a wet build? I ask because at the end of this year I am going to be going the coilover route and not sure which way to go (just buy the AWR coilovers at $500 less than MSRP, or get Skunk2/GC coil sleeves and Koni inserts for stock struts).

Also why go the Cusco route for camber mounts instead of AWR?

I'm just getting off the shelf valving. They are good for springs up to about 500#, so even when I stiffen things up a bit, I'll still be ok. I'm just going to insert them into stock housings.

I bought the Cusco plates to work with the Tokicos, then realized how bad the stock struts had gotten... so I'm just going to make the Cusco plates work.

The Konis are very affordable through my job and I enjoy doing the fab work. Plus I already have the rest of the parts I need to complete the job.

Double or single adjustable Konis? I'd be interested in hearing how you are going to fab them up as well.

Also what setup are you using for the GC coilovers? Since I will still have some life left in the Tokicos after this season (likely 75000 miles at the end of the year) I might go with the Tokico/GC/Camber Plate combination to save some money over something like AWR coilovers. Betting that with an increase in spring rates the struts would blow soon afterwards though.

Just single adjustables. I'll have updates on the fab work as it goes. Apparently the front inserts are on back order until June so I'm going to have to make do with replacement Tokicos for the first event.

My GCs are just the standard rates. After 60K miles of use, the front struts are GONE.

Bouncy bouncy bouncy bounce :p

Drives great except for the fact the car still bottoms out on sudden, big bumps. Once I put the Konis on the front, I'll gain some compression travel back and the bottoming out should cease. I don't reccomend them except if you need the extra camber for the track.

darn I'm just looking for a solution to the cracking sound when I turn the wheels. Cuz thestock mounts with the poorly designed platic bearings suck. You think Yue bottoming out cuz your lowered the car too much? I plan to leave atleast a 1/4" inch gap or maybe a little less.

The bottoming out is caused by the camber plates reducing available shock travel. For example, with the OEM mounts, the car was lowered 1.5" and had 2.5" of compression travel. With the plates the car is still lowered 1.5" but only has 1.5" of compression.

If I wanted the front end to sit higher with the plates than with the OEM mounts, it wouldn't be an issue. The Cusco plates are taller and require you to lower the spring perch to allow the car to sit at the same ride height.

I ordered the BG (90-94) Protege plates from Protuningperformance.com. I believe they are the same as the MX3 plates.

Thanks... I think im going to go ahead and get them... Anythings better than the creaking cracking noise i get with the GC's and Stock Mounts... Well maybe not anything but the camber plates look promising
