Current state of ECU flashes? What's available/best option?

It seems that the talk of the ECU flash from Dynotronics has fizzled out and nothing else has been mentioned since then. Is this still the only option? And if so, for the people who had it done back then was it worth it? I've read the thread about it and it seemed like the results were mixed/questionable. How is your flash holding up today?

I'm really wanting to get my ECU flashed and experience all the benefits that comes along with it but at the same time do not want to break the bank and/or lose performance. I want to feel second gear when i shift into it from high RPM. Any suggestions?

maz2da.....

Carn't speak for the Mazda 2 1.5 UK or US models, but the UK 1.3 base model has changed completly with the flash as it has been altered with the progression if the files.

After the base file was sorted ( UK ECU uses the old style Demio hardware, so took a little longer to decifer the raw data to the relevant tables and maps )

The first file ironed out the throttle responce & table, as its a bit lumpy, the MAF table was the next alteration giving the pick up and pull...

The next file altered the cam timing VVT, the UK 1.3 is a bit gutless under the 3-3.5k cam timing kick, the file altered the cam table making the car pull from a lot lower down, the 3-3.5k lift is still there but just not as pronounced as the car is already pulling from 1.5is up....

The driveability of the car has changed completely, you can accell around cars without having to do the down shift, if you do down shift the car pulls like mad from lower down ( even with my 17" wheels on ) these made the car sluggish & lost 10mpg on the standard map. Now the car pulls like mad all the way to the increased rev limit, i fit 15" standard Mazda alloys on to go on the track, the car is like a go-kart with these on especially on the roads.....

The car was dyno'd at this point giving exactly the same power as before we started the tune, even though the car drives like a completly different vehicle, this is as expected as the WOT part of the map & tune have not been touched yet. The files have concentrated on the low / mid power / torque making the car much more drieable, releasing the zoom zoom....

Since this I have had another file tackling the peak power, this has altered the feel of the car, there is definitly more pull top end, but not dyno'd it yet, i have data logged and Joe is working on the results, when we get to the stage that we feel we have gleamed all we can out of the car ( within the safe limits ) I will be dynoing again and posting the results....

We continue to change and develop our tuning for the baby MZR, and we are in fact working on the Sky G and D for the second gen 2

2nd gear from 20 to 100 km/h Blue is the first tune red after the second tune. There is a difference of 1.8 seconds with the second tune doing it in 9 seconds flat. It just keeps getting better too.

I love my tune. 100% worth it, IMO. Second gear pulls like it never could before. The fun factor of the car is increased immensely.
