Cup Holder wont auto open

I spilled a drink into my cup holder and got everything all sticky. Now my mechanism won't automatically open the cup holder. I took the whole thing out and washed it really good but its still not working. Is there something I should lubricate? Open to any suggestions.

I ended up fixing it myself. Just for everyone's reference there is a screw in the center of them mechanism that came loose. Just had to rotate the spring and tighten the screw, all good now =).
