that i own is sick
i have been noticing that in the mornin when its really cold im gettin a crunching noise that i think is comming from my springs or mounts... it happens when i go over bumps and stuff, takin it back to faulkner for the like tenth time, i feel like i know those basterds now

lol.... where is the sound comming from..

It could be your front bushings.. they are urethane(sp) The suspension in my car has always been a lil noisey while cold.

its the squeak. It comes from the front right?

The rear has the clunk and the front has the squeak when it is cold out. Welcome to the world of protege suspension.

Even though i parked my car for the winter. Just before i did, my car made the same disqusting noise when it was cold.
Extreme rubbing which sounds like scratching. Definately from the rear. Sounds almost top rear. For me, in the spring if it does it i'll leave it at the dealership till its fixed.

heh, when it's cold, i get a loud crunch over bumps...it sounds like the shocks r crunching real hard or some other suspension crap

yes, this sound has been pissing me off for a while now. im gonna take it in and have them grease the suspension system to see if it helps?

i've had it done twice and both times it didn't go away at all
(maybe) got a fraction quieter

I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem!! (though... it sucks to hear there are others at the same time) if anyone figures out a solution, by all means. wasting my time bringing my car to the dealership so they can puttz around and scratch the paint job isn't my idea of a fix (been there done that) so far... I'm livin with it... avoiding large dips in the road. not exactly what I had in mind when I bought a new car!

hey yay! i didnt even hafta search mine started happening yesterday i was like wtfff.. its like a crunching/squeaking noise up front... sounds like springs..but how can u diff front springs vs. bushings? wither way i'm kinda positive its something related to springs.

to u car experts, is this bad in any way?? ..i guess its another thing i'll hafta deal w....

EDIT: btw weathers been 25F-35F sorry for 2x post

If you think it's bad now, wait until it gets to 0 degrees F, then you'll have something to complain about. It is INCREDIBLY loud in extreme cold - I went over railroad tracks when it was 3 degrees out and thought to myself "holy sheet"! It's just noise though as far as I know, so I wouldn't worry about it. Welcome to poly bushings and welcome to Mazda's "special" suspension.

It's the urethane front swaybar bushings. Urethane doesn't "self lube" like rubber does, and is harder. With the smooth bar and the smooth urethane, you get the same effect as basketball shoes (or skin) on a gym floor - squeek (and "ouch").

Only solution is to rough 'em up a little inside (wire brush) and lubricate. Most recommend a silicone grease (not spray) which is more friendly to urethane, though some have had success with lithium grease. I'm going to try to get some Krytox, a very slippery DuPont lube that doesn't wash off (do NOT get it on your hands), but I'm not playing around under my car at 20 degrees, so the first visit may be to the dealer to get the squeak temporarily eradicated under warranty.

Good news is that while it sounds like hell, it's not doing any damage, except to your reputation (and Mazda's) if you have guests in the car who wonder why it's falling apart (it's not). Tell them it's the racing suspension and on the track it doesn't make any noise at all. You don't have to race to say this.

In short - dealer for warranty visit, and if you can get them to Krytox it, so much the better. If not, well, you'll go back when the lube wears off.

Good luck!

LOL. I could delete my previous post if you'd like! :D You pretty much gave all the needed info in 1 post anyway so all others are irrelevant.:D
