Cruise Control instructions help...

Hi, sorry to bother. I'm seriously starting to think I bought a 2002 P5 lemon... My cruise control isn't working as far as I know and my user's manual is for a 2001 Protege (non-P5) so the cruise control setup is slightly different. Can someone tell me if I'm doing it right? I drive over 40Km/h, press the MAIN button on my steering wheel, wait over 2 seconds, press SET and release gas pedal. Speed drops. Tried all kinds of combinations. I DO hear a relay actuating from the passenger side, but the CRUISE light indicator on the dash does NOT light. Am I doing something wrong? THANKS!

youre doing it fine, there must be something wrong, check in the fuses panel under the left end of the dash board, driver side, look if the fuse is ok,if not replace it...

Do you know WHICH fuse controls the cruise-control? Another member asked the question months ago and nobody ever replied. Anybody got a clue? THANKS, YOU GUYS/GALS!

Anybody? hehehe, gotta be the million-dollar question... Which fuse protects the cruise-control circuit? Anybody wanna buy a vowel? Anybody??

I think there are also issues with many people's cruise control modules being faulty from what I've read on here. I sometimes have to set mine 2 or 3 times before it actually works but it turns on the dash light every time & it will eventually work after fiddling with it every time ( which isn't very often)

40 Kph seems too slow to me. I vaguely recall that the Cruise Control on my car wouldn't set reliably until 40 Mph. If it doesn't work at highway speeds then something is broken (although maybe just a loose wire or a blown fuse).

I agree that 40 kph is too low. Also, I believe fuses for the cruise are under the hood in the main engine fuse panel (not the one under the dash).

I believe you have to be going a bare minimum of 30 MPH (48KPH) for the cruise to engage.

You guys are AWSOME...THANKS! Get home from work and not only did I get replies...but PICTURES TOO!! hehehe. THANKS! gonna check all fuses in a bit. As for the speed, I've tried engaging the cruise control at over 120 km/h and still nothing....

Alright, well I checked ALL my fuses (both inside the car AND under the hood)a and they're all good. Not a burnt one in the bunch. Guess it's either a faulty module or a pressure leak. Is there any way to find out what could be wrong WITHOUT taking it to a mechanic? Thanks!

if the cruise indicator is not lighting with the main button depressed (pushed in is on) then something is wrong and you should take it to a dealer. you may have a faulty body control module and thats not something you or i can fix.

Where can I find said plug? What color are the wires to that plaug? Does anybody know where the wires are under the steering wheel? I notice 2 cables disconnected.
