crankcase ventilation dry

The PCV seems to be working as directed.... no airflow blowing from intake side, but allows airflow from engine.
My ventilation on the side of the valve cover is BONE dry.... I would assume it would be seeing some blow by and I would (possibly) need a catch can.

Car idles fine, but if I hold my finger over the PCV hole, still no airflow out of the side crankcase vent :/

I flipped over and opened up the top of the valve cover, ports are visually clear, and I can stick the dipstick down to the windage tray on the head side....

Car is running like dick and I'm trying to figure this thing out.... Anyone have seen problems like this before? Doing a search of crankcase ventilation only yields people talking about normal problems (like a need for a catch can).

yeah, about 4 months ago. Great numbers, and above spec, with small variations between cylinders. The ventilation hose has always been dry.... Maybe I have gotten away with a car with little blow by??? seems improbable though
