Yes, Google will find you those unbiased personal experiences. Ultimately it's up to them if they want to answer, but I felt like it was a lot of questions for them to have to type out answers to for things that could be found. Forget I said anything.NSS.

Great news. You get a new, improved, engine.I took my 2018 CX5 to a shop for a possible oil leak. Mechanic says block has hairline crack, is leaking oil down exhaust manifold. He tells me from his research it's a known issue with this model & Mazda is aware of the problem. There is no recall or class action lawsuit that either of us found. He doesn't know what they have done or will do to fix the problem. I am over that 75K mile extended warranty I bought, I'm at 77,652.
I'm going to take it to the dealership in the morning. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to proceed?
Mazda covered it 100%!!!!! I was shocked & very grateful to say the least!!

Everyone buys EV for a slightly different reason. I bought a used tesla mainly because I have a charger at work and mainly use it to drive to work and local since my rate in Southern CA charging at home most of the time would probably be $0.35 - $0.40/kWh and it wouldn't save any money over a gas car. I have a basic model so just a little over 200 miles on a full charge and since I have other hydrid car I would most likely use the hydrid on a long trip. I wouldn't worry about battery replacement 5 to 7 years from now, I think there should be a lot of choices by then like there are a lot of choices for the prius battery replacement now. What's your feelings on the EV? Have you taken it on any long trips where you had to plan out charging stops? What kind of range? How is it affected by cold/hot? Do you charge at home and how has it affected your electrical bill? What's the warranty on the battery? Have you looked into the cost of battery replacement if you keep it past the warranty?
I could go on and on.
Thanks for answering. Sounds like my situation would be similar to yours. Maybe EV for short trips (which I mostly do) but a gas or hybrid for when we head out of town. We head down to the Outer Banks couple times a year and I would not want to worry about charging on the way.Everyone buys EV for a slightly different reason. We have 3 Mazda's in the family fleet that I maintain. We could put them to use. PM sent... I have some leftover Wix filters that need a new home now (maybe 4), anybody want them for the cost of shipping? : ) ...
Do you mean cracked cylinder head or a cracked block?Wife's 2015 CX5 2.0L just suffered a cracked cylinder block at 115k miles... Less than 500 miles after the car was in for service that included oil change, drive belt, tensioners, etc. Never had any issues with overheating up until this point.
Dealer offered us $500 towards the purchase od a new/used vehilce.

How much did they offer you for the vehicle on trade-in? Hopefully not $500.
I hope the guy is wrong. I might suggest a 2nd opinion (other than this forum). Of course he could have actually seen a crack in the block but why wouldn't he show it to you?I asked could he be sure it was the block and not something like a blown head gasket. He said it wouldn't be worth tearing it apart to find out... which franklly I thought was odd to say - but I trusted this guy's judement since I've been dealing with him for 12+ years on my own Mazda (2004 6S wagon).
This is a serious situation and has me a bit worried. I would prefer if the block were to crack it would be on the front side under the intake. If it were the block and not the head at least you could use a magnaflux dye to see the hairline crack. But alas it has to be always completely out of sight and hard to get at. With this kind of situation it certainly would be nice to see that crack because to my knowledge you wouldn't have oil coming out just glycol cause that's where the cooling jacket is.
