CP-e Tow Plate Installed

:
Mazda 6i Charcoal Grey
So I am newly stationed here in Germany. By law I am required to have a license plate on the front of my car. I decided I didnt want to drill two holes into the front bumper (OCD) so I decided that my only possible solution (other than zip tie to the grill) was to order the Tow plate adapter. Received it Two days ago, and slapped that bad boy on. Install was VERY simple. CP-e included the instructions which had me removing the front bumper (but you can easily access and install the adapter without removing the bumper (use some lock tight) . Sure its a big over played with the Alfa Romero sporting their plates on the driver side, and evo on the passenger side. but this is a great alternative for mounting a front plate.

could you let me know how you did it with out taking off the bumper. i have had this thing sitting in my car for a month now and really want to put it on.

I hate front plates.

But thats cool. Something different and I would agree better than drilling two holes in the front bumper.

hey hawaii..

Take off the front circular cover over the took hook area. Grab your stock OG tow hook in the trunk. Take the Cp-e shaft and put some loctite on the male threads. Now take the og took hook and screw it into the female shaft(cpe's)
Dont tighten it to the point that the OG tow hook gets mated to the cpe shaft. use that as an extension to get the cpe shaft into the threads of the frame. now back the OG threads out of the cpe shaft with the shaft now inserted into the frame. Now take the supplied 3/4 nut and allen bolt and screw them into the cpe shaft. U will notice about 2 inches in on the shaft the threads are smaller for the allen bolt to thread onto. U should be able to tighten the allen bolt which in turn will cause the shaft to tighten more. now back out the allen bolt. Now the cpe shaft is tight. now you can put the license plate bracket up to the bumper and slide the allen bolt through the hole. Put a external washer through the allen bolt (in bewtween the license frame and cpe shaft. Tighten down with allen key and level it while your doing it. Now you can install the 4 screws to put the license plate on the frame. :)

thats exactly the way i did it. i looked at the instructions , then the hole and figured it would be easier to just put it the extension because it reached without taking the bumper off. made sure it was tight and completed the install. took 5 mins.
