Got her back Friday, I have the high flow Cat with one resonator, she's now 3 inches all the way out. WHOA........................................
She's really loud and she pulls 'almost' all the way to redline, approx. 6000-6200rpm. At this point I am so tickled at the increase in power that I'm changing gears anyway. On the lower end I can hear the turbo spooling up at the same rpm's approx. 3000-3100rpm but the real pulling kicks in at about 4000rpm.
As to the sounds, the clips we have all heard don't do it justice. I can tell that with my setup, inside the car she's sounds pissed off and mean. On the down side, the vibrations caused by all this commotion really irritates me, to the point of, I will be getting either another resonator from CP-E or a muffler. I have to drive her to work daily and the drone is just too much. You younger fellas' may like that, I don't.
All in all, best mod I've done yet which should'nt surprize anyone, this engine REALLY benefits when it can breathe properly.
Hats off to Jordan and all the guys at CP-E this is one well made exhaust system. The guys at the custom shop I use were all in awe of the craftsmanship & quality. Course they all loved the sound too, leave it too me to F%$# it up and want to quieten her down a bit............(shocked)
I will be calling soon Jordan to discuss silencing options...................LOL

They know their s*** and take the time to do things right. It's good others notice.

I agree I have the same but I did my custom 3 inch catback running dual mufflers and mine is not as loud. When I did my Downpipe it just freed up everything I love it. My PSI's in every gears is higher now also. CPE FTW!!

Thanks so much for the GREAT review (bow)

The exhaust system is pretty loud in its base configuration, but I think we have some options up our sleeve that will keep the volume to acceptable levels, and still enjoy that wonderful power increase :D

Either way, thanks so much for sharing your positive AND negative experiences with everyone!

Jordan

Edit: Stetson, I'm out of town until Friday, but the guys at the shop (Josh or Anthony) would be more than happy to discuss the muffler options with you. Or if you'd prefer, I can communicate with you via email or by PM's until I return. Thanks again!

"On the down side, the vibrations caused by all this commotion really irritates me"

Jordan, I apologize, I should clarify this statement for everyone. By vibration I meant, the tone that is reached under acceleration in my ears/brain that sends shivers thru my body. I did NOT mean actual vibrations from the car itself. The installation was very clean, fit perfectly, my mechanic was amazed at how nicely it all went together. These are GOOD shivers, there just too much for me and the WIFE..........(hint hint)

No negative reviews to report whatsoever.

This exhaust system is ASTOUNDING..................

I have the exact same system and my feelings are identical. I even picked up the extra KOOKS 14" muffler on the 3rd section of the exhaust system. After the muffler addition, it was difficult to even notice the difference in sound/resonance. My CPE boys will figure something out. No worries there fella's. They are on our side!!!!

I don't think those recordings capture the true sound, I've heard 3 or 4 using various CP-E configurations and none of them come close to the actual sound. With my config, DP w/high flow cat and just the one resonator, no restrictions all the way out, it's very deep and raspy sounding. Sorta like a pissed off hive of 'Baritone Hornets' if you can imagine that..........
I just can't seem to avoid all the high schoolers in my area from pulling up beside me and challenging me to 'SHOW ME WHAT YAH GOT' because of the way it sounds. At my advanced age, I would get in trouble very quick, if I did'nt avoid this scenario.
I'm thinking of adding one or two more resonators, If Jordan, Josh or Anthony don't think thats the wrong way to go. I do not wish to restrict the exhaust in any way. So we'll see............

PS: I don't have a clue what type of device to use to record something like this. I know I don't own any type of recording device to even use.

This is a slightly older thread, but I would like to resurrect it to see if anyone (or CP-E) has a solution yet for the loudness of the Turbo-back. It is too loud for me, and at some RPM's it actually rattles the interior of the car. I am trying to find the "perfect" RPM's to drive with, so that it is as quiet as possible without going below 1750-2000 RPM's. I'd rather not have to do this.

I will be forced to (unfortunately) sacrifice horsepower for several less decibels. If this means a custom exhaust then so be it...

Otherwise, I have been very impressed with the power and responsiveness that the CP-E product affords. Thanks CP-E boys!

I'm not sure they have them in stock but CP-E has a muffler that is suppose to quieten the exhaust down. Check the RPM or SU sites for availability. This was a muffler CP-E picked or had made for their system.

I finally gave in and booked an appointment with a muffler shop here. They are going to use the existing pipe and splice in a muffler that will quiet it down. I know I will likely lose some HP over this, but I am seriously getting a headache from the drone in the background all the time. Sorry CP-E guys, I do like the performance, I just can't tolerate the noise.

I have a dyno run scheduled for a few days after my muffler install, so I expect to be posting some charts in the next few weeks. We'll see how much I've gained overall with CP-E CAI and TBE, and what the new muffler did to things.

New muffler is installed... and it is SWEET. Definitely quiets down a lot of the growl/buzz that it produced after the TBE install. It is a Magnaflow muffler, I don't know what kind though. They managed to keep all the mandrel bends too which was nice. I still have decent tone and a throaty rumble, but not buzzy at all. Dyno is in 1 week, I will let you know what happens!
