So when really getting on it in gears above 2nd, and I mean WOT, My car seems to cough. Its sort of like a backfire, but it doesn't feel like one. It happens in the higher rpms and when it does happen it sounds like popping around my exhaust, and the car stutters bad. And its not just one "cough" but multiple. It will cough, then stutter, then pick up a bit for a second, then it would cough in a quick series of 3 to 4. This then forces me to let off. Im wondering perhaps its fuel cuts, but Im not sure. Mods dp,rp, cai, mm, denso plugs, ap stage 2 +mscai. Any ideas. Oh and sorry but coughing was the best word I could find to describe whats happening.

thats def fuel cut... im lost at your solution though.. maybe try a stage 1 flash? Anyone w/ and AP care to chime in?
 
+1 for fuel cut. We have similar mods but I am running stock ECU. I get same kind of behavior in cold weather. Does your dp/rp have a cat(s) or are you catless?

What does your AP say about fuel pressure? If your pressure is dropping, might be time to upgrade internals or go with aftermarket pump. If fp's are normal and you are running in cold weather, then your ECU is jumping in to keep you safe.

I defer to AP users/tuners for any possible tuning solution, although it makes sense that you might have to go back to stage 1 and a somewhat lower boost target under load. You might have to set boost levels closer to stock in winter months.

Ya I'm catless, and anyways to tune this thing would be amazing. I'll try to get a log up soon and check my fuel pressure.
 
so here is the data log that obviously shows my fuel cuts. How dangerous is this? What are my options? New internals or an upgraded fuel pump, is that it? oh and sorry for the format it was in csv and i changed it to xls, and it messed it up a bit.

its not thats its BAD your cars just not getting the fuel needed when goin WOT. i have it really bad an haven't had the money for an upgraded pump. (i hate xmas) ive seen mine drop as low 900psi before! just get some internals and you'll be good to go.

if you plan on goin far with mods i'd say spend the extra chunk of money an get a high pressure pump FYI, PTP or cp-e's but if your not goin mod crazy internals will be perfect.

as far as future mods go, i'll probably just get an upgraded tmic, and maybe an inlet pipe, so i guess internals are the way to go.
 
You should check. Pull apart the coupling and check the pipe right before the MAF. If there is no straightener it can be ordered. I'm sure somebody has a link. That might help.
 
def happens to me too and it all started after i put my blow off valve on and pluged the return hose off. alot of stuttering when the car is not warmed up yet. the fuel is running a little rich with the bov also. but no big deal as far as im concerned lol.
