Cost to replace the wheel arch trim (rear right if it matters)

:
RDX Aspec Adv.
Mazda designed this part well. It's break-away design is nice in that it doesn't mess up the body, while still allowing the part to fly off freely if it encounters the kind of force that might hurt something. Anyway, a rock on the freeway from an expansion joint blew mine loose, and it won't re-attach as firmly as before, so I'm going to deep 6 it at my convenience and replace this piece of trim with a new one. Does anyone know the cost of this part? I assume they are frequently replaced, like front air dams, since it seems designed as a throw-away blow-off part. Props to Mazda for sacrificial body panels. It makes fixing it user-friendly to work on!

Call Med Center Mazda (forum sponsor at the top of your screen) for a discount price.

Do they sell parts like that? I have seen NAV and other parts from them.
Yes they do. Med Center Mazda is a Mazda dealer doing online sales business on parts. But their website doesn't offer any detailed parts list and diagrams and searching for parts online is sometimes impossible. So like paris1 said, you may have to "call"! (boom01)

Will run you 50-$100. There are a couple of them on ebay for $70 shipped. Probably cheaper if you search around.

$125 including labor and all fasteners at my local dealership[, for future reference. Of course, I get a free car wash, and I will have a snack and a coke. So actual cost is maybe $105 or so.

Same thing happened to my wife while driving in freeway. She drove over something causing the rear passenger tire to be ripped. The rear fender trim piece was halfway ripped off. I actually reused and reattached that same trim piece with some new plastic plug fasteners from the dealership. There's a slight crease from the trim being bent but hardly noticeable.

Sounds EXACTLY the same. The first outwardly visible fastener 1/2 way back is what "stopped" it. I am just replacing the whole thing because the new fender piece itself is only $50, so why not?

CX-5 vs. Beer Can

This just happened to me, left rear. It was a beer can, perhaps a tall boy. At least there wasn't any sheet metal or paint damage.

Be sure and type in your VIN number. They will verify if you are getting the right part for your car.

Thanks. I decided that it must have been something with more mass than a beer can. It looked like one, but it had to have more mass to knock the mud deflector and wheel arch trim off. Being cylindrical and silver-colored, we think it could have been a chrome exhaust extension or similar.
