We have released a new racepipe for the Rx8. The racepipe has several different options of 1 or 2 resonators. There is also an option of a high flow catalyst in the pipe as well.
We took a number of decibel readings for the RX-8 Racepipe in a dual resonated and single resonated configuration, there was very little difference between the two both in sound and in actual decibel ratings in various environments and at various load and rpm combinations. We found that effectively the dual resonator was only a shade quieter than the large single resonated version. The ambient sound tests were done in an open building with sheetrock walls and the road tests were done on city streets and on a freeway. High end sound comparisons between the two units were eclipsed by the sound of the K&N intake that our test car was equipped with. Both were quite similar, very little perceptible difference.
