No, the CREE in fog lights aren't going to work. if you look a the fog ight housing, the bulb goes inside the housing but inside the housing there is a metal interior housing that covers the front, so crees has the light come out of the front so it will completely be blocked, they might be good for DRL though, but I'm happy with my 18led smd drl.

The metal cap in the foglight comes off with ease using needle nose pliers. The metal cap's "purpose" is to reduce glare which is mandatory by U.S. road regulations. In reality, it doesn't help with the turd H11 and equivalent dim bulbs, design of small light housing, and low location of the light. The factory foglights of Mazda's and most manufacturers nowadays are just for asthetics as they do not provide nearly enough light to find anything farther than 2ft in front of the car. Forget about even finding lane markers in the fog, as they are intended to do so.

The same housing have been standard in almost all Mazda foglights of the past decade. Those who want to install HID's in the foglight housings have to remove the cap. Most LED units require the same.

I went with the 27 smds cause in the posting the seller even shows that the smds on the 68s are tiny......

They didn't fit, have to find a thinner bulb.... these were 21mm wide (fog lights).

You must unplug the cargo light in the rear before changing the bulb. If you short out the module, it will NOT be covered under warranty. (check the bulletins). I unplugged the fuse while changing the interior lights. Takes a little extra time, but worth it so you dont mess anything up.

I read that in the manual. But when I installed my CorkSport LED kit, I didn't disconnect or unplug anything, I just put them in. Even the trunk light, I put it in backwards, then flipped it after realizing it didn't work and it was still ok afterwards. YMMV

He's not wrong. A cree will not work in these fogs. Unless you do what Pistons says about taking out the metal cap, and the only way you can do that is if you take the whole wheel well shield out. There is no way to get a pair of pliars in there. I could hardly get my hand up in there. Big bummer.

i read something on the mazda6 forums people were bending the reflector forward a bit like 2mm to open up some space for bulbs (HID) to fit. something you guys can consider if you dont want to break it off.

He's not wrong. A cree will not work in these fogs. Unless you do what Pistons says about taking out the metal cap, and the only way you can do that is if you take the whole wheel well shield out. There is no way to get a pair of pliars in there. I could hardly get my hand up in there. Big bummer.

I'm gonna send them back, cause I ended up finding a pair of halogens from and older cx-9 I had and they are almost a perfect match to the xenons.... I already installed them.

You can do this just by going through the light socket? Or did you remove something else?

Bend it back and forth. The tab will break off cleanly and won't be noticeable.
