Corksport exhaust and downpipe

what im worried about is the bottle neck from where the down pipe meet the stock cat. why not offer a complete bolt up midpipe with a highflow cat. that way nobody has to go through cutting and performance will be so much better.

OK so here are the 2 sound clips David and I got over the weekend and 2 more pictures.

This is Richards comment "here is a picture of the downpipe from our installation instructions (a work in progress).

Also, here is another image of the exhaust. You can see the symmetry in the piping. This will help equalize flow between the two mufflers.

I included a couple of video clips. This is with downpipe and exhaust (slip-fit). FYI, Inside the car with windows up, it is pretty quiet."

So what do you guys think?

I agree. Turbo exhaust flow should open up from the tailpipe forward. Eliminating the 1st cat but leaving the 2nd cat is silly IMHO. If you are going to eliminate just one cat, eliminate the 2nd cat and leave the 1st one in place. That way exhaust will flow smoother and no CEL!

I know I shouldn't let leasing affect whether I mod a car or not, but the reality is that if something does break and it has to go in for warranty service it'll be a big PITA if the car is modded. I went through a similar situation with my MSP

We all have to go through that one.

Yeah, something about it being her daily driver and already having two other cars I'm playing with. (lol2)

I have some more information to add from one of Richards e-mails........
"
Our system does not cause OBDII code. Our testing indicates the power gains are substantial from elimination of the first catalytic. This is a "pre" cat and most cars will pass a sniff test with only the main cat installed.

That said, I'll not advise anyone to remove either catalyst."

And in another e-mail..........
"
The videos are with downpipe and exhaust (slip-fit).

The exhaust tips come shiny. Your exhaust gases will make it dirty. There is not much that can be done about that, except regular cleaning."

So, the downpipe connects to the main cat and then the exhaust connects via slip fit to that?

One more update from Richard

"Hello Gentlemen,

There is a lot of cross-talk out there about the exhaust components
we have been working on. I hoped to get some good input and possibly
generate a little buzz for our upcoming products. I have definitely
gotten a lot of feedback. Unfortunately, everyone wants something
different. Furthermore, there has been many negative comments and
connotations I have encountered.

The exhaust in the pictures is VERY high quality. Honestly, I have
never seen an exhaust system that has significantly surpassed the
quality of ours and none that have surpassed the value. There are
minor adjustments to made before we go into production but the test
exhaust is 95% there.

All our exhausts are Polished stainless steel. The piping is mandrel
bent. They are very durable and will outlast the life of the car. We
test them to fit and to perform. We get maximum power gains from our
systems. We are always honest about the performance of our products.
We desire total customer satisfaction.

We have full understanding of Cx7 owners and the desire for sound
levels. Our exhaust has a very mild sound. Our exhaust with downpipe
has a more aggressive note. Many Cx7 owners will not want downpipe
and exhaust, that much I understand. However, when most people hear
it in person they are satisfied. It is very hard to capture the
essence of the exhaust from a video clip.

I do not plan to release any more information on our systems until we
are ready to go retail.

I cannot hope to manage all the various angles people are coming at
me with. My preference is to stop the press and focus my efforts on
getting these products complete. We hope to have products available
in 2-3 months. Ultimately, Cx7 owners will judge our success by
purchasing our products or not.

Please understand that I mean no ill. I very much appreciate your
input and I hope to earn your business. We'll learn together if the
Cx7 community will support aftermarket parts.

Regards,
Rich"

So lets make this happen guys!!

1. Slip fit is fine.
2. No mid pipe for me. Don't want the car so loud that I can't hear the Bose.
3. Would likely go with the downpipe and cat. Would like to know how much more HP would have by adding cat and cat w/ downpipe.

This is an update as of yesterday.......

"I'll give you an update as we get closer to having parts for sale. That will not happen for a few months.

The final designs are:
1) Cat-back exhaust w/slip fit.
2) Downpipe (eliminates pre-cat but leaves main cat intact)

Thanks,
Rich"
