Corksport DP question

Yeah probably wouldn't hurt. The flange attached to the front of your 2.5" test pipe needs to be able to work with the 3" outlet of the CS DP. The factory flange does ok on that, but needs to be aligned concentrically before it is tightened tightened.

Now, if you misalign it and torque it down, it'll effect the gasket negatively. Easiest solution is either to just use the test pipe you have or get one that has a factory style concave spherical flange like ours.

No codes on my car. The only CEL I've ever had appear on my car was about a year ago (when it was still stock) and my gas cap wasn't on all the way :)

Any issues with the WG flapper hitting the pipe or flange? I seem to be boost-cutting like mad, now, over 1/2 throttle. Granted, it's pretty cold out now but, is this a possibility?

I had posted up these pictures in the past showing the clearance for the downpipe flange and of the wastegate door.

The top picture is a stock turbo with the wastegate door open as far as the actuator allows.

The pictures below is our downpipe flange with the pipe cut off giving a view of the wastegate and clearance.

Even with the wastegate open as far as possible there is plenty of clearance on the downpipe.

Thanks for the insight. Clearance is fine with the little flow divider plate as well? I can't see where that is in the photo.

If you look in the bottom picture on the left of the opening you can see the divider curving to follow the contour of the turbo outlet pipe. I curves away from the wastegate door.

so sorry for the old bump but I just installed Corksport TBE and it is GREAT!!! no CELs yet and running catless... only bad thing (if you can call it that) is that I'm hitting boost limit and engine is cutting off cuz of my other mods...

I talked to Derrick on the phone yesterday and he was extremely helpful with all my questions.

I was just wondering, if I go back to my stock TMIC do you think I'll still be hitting the boost limiter?

Alright, I drive 2010 Speed3. My only mods are CPE SRI, CPE RMM, and Jbarone SSP.

If I decide to go with CS DP when you guys release it, would I HAVE to get the COBB AP or CPE SB to tune my car to run it properly and safely?

I really want to put a DP on my car, but I do NOT want to risk my car having problems..

Plenty of people are indeed running DP's untuned. Honestly though the DP is a heavy mod. You should have supporting mods like guages to be able to see whats going on. As well as being able to accept any issues that may arise.

There are plenty of other mods that can get you power. Intercooler, inlet pipe, cobb ap, bpv, etc. If you are worried about a DP then just save it for later. Get the AP first.

I'd love to get Cobb AP for my car, but it's not out for us 2nd gen speed3s. And, Cobb said it'll take awhile. I don't think they will ever release it. haha

I'll just wait til Corksport releases its DP. Hope it'll be out in couple months...

Get a TMIC or inlet pipe then. The TMIC will net you around 20whp and is a 15 minute install. You could also get a midpipe. The CS DP is a shorty unlike most DP's which means it doesn't replace the midpipe like the ATP / CPE.

yes, i'm going to actually order ultimate racing or corksport catless test pipe tonight! i heard it gives us 10 hp/tq right?

Yep testpipe=midpipe=racepipe

Yeah the testpipe probably gives 5-10hp. Enough to be slightly noticable. Also changes the exhaust tone a bit which is nice. Overall great value for such a cheap / easy to install mod.
