Corksport B Spec Mazda2

i like the interior. you guys should sell that interior :P

also LOL at thar wing at 2:00. thats fast n furious downforce right there

Awesome!

I'd only replace some of the obnoxious music with more appropriate engine tones in the video :)

i'm doing a second edit on the video this week.... my macbook pro wasn't feeling friendly during initial edit which made it extremely difficult to get what i wanted... and of course with how impatient i am, i uploaded the initial edit!

regardless, its about the sweet B Spec Mazda 2 :-)

The only reason why that's exceptable is that it's on a Race Prepped Porcshe, so it's there for a purpose. If I saw that on the street, I'd shat myself with laughter though..

Also, sweet vid, car and editing. I'm awaiting the edit with more/just engine noise!

Interesting mix of cars at that trackday. I think I saw a Cayman Interseries car in Martini livery in there!

How'd the Mazda2 do in terms of lap times? It looked like it was holding up pretty well compared to the Spec Miatas for its first time out.

any time i see a wing almost above the roofline i chuckle. but i know at high high high speeds itll do its job =]

but whwen you see them on cavaliers and civics and eclipses....well..... much laughs and pointing fingers

Those really tall wings are actually generally for lower speeds. Getting them way up in the airflow and with tons of surface area is the only way to get downforce in the more technical sections. Take a look at some of the "modified" Autocross or time trial cars around and you'll see some crazy aero stuff going on.

Contrary to popular belief, by the way, FWD cars can benefit from big 'ol wings on the back too, as evidenced by the many FWD cars running with them in WTCC, BTCC, and SCCA World Challenge, but obviously riced out street cars are a whole different story.

the Corksport 2 was the only B spec car out there. It kept up in the corners very well, but the straights there was no power. I can't wait to see CS get this car in a race with other B spec cars! rumor has it there are 4 in the NW being built... mostly fiestas... BOOOOOO!! ;-)

as far as lap times, derrick started Saturday with a 1:46 which isn't anything to write home about... by Sunday afternoon he had dropped 6 seconds and was nearly breaking into the 1:39's. HUGE IMPROVEMENTS!

The porsche that blows past me and the nissan is a GT3. It was 20 seconds a lap faster.

Hey, a 20 second gap between a GT3 and a Mazda2 is actually pretty respectable on a track with a 1:39 laptime. He'd only be lapping you every seven laps or so, not any worse than the difference between GT cars and Prototypes at a mixed-class event...

The 2 was faster through the corners than all of the porsches out there except that GT3. They would pass me on the straight and I could reel them in on the corners where they couldn't use all of the power. I could also out late brake most of the cars out there. There was a specific instance I had a 993 catch up with me on the straight but he had to bail out on the brakes 150 feet before me so I got to the corner first.
