Cooling question

On my old Honda Accord, the previous had used the car for autocross and cooling was a major concern for him. For that reason, he put in a Camaro radiator and switched the stock radiator fans to an aftermarket dual fan setup.

Is this really needed on a car like the Protege? I like the fans, because they added some color (yellow) to the engine bay, but I could do without it if it doesn't do too much for cooling. Any ideas?

Another question -- Does anyone happen to know the size of the stock radiator on the MSP? And a guess of how much room thre is between the radiator and the engine?

it's not worth it unless you heavily mod your car, b/c it wouldn't be worth doing on a stock car, But if you were running, Nos, or a turbo setup, or high compresion pistons, cams, etc... then it would nice to have the extra cooling.

With that said and the MSP being turbo, an aftermarket fan should help then, right? Plus the aftermarket fans are lighter & pull more air, so that's always good no matter what kind of setup you have.. Is that thinking correct?

Our cars already have upgraded cooling over a stock Protege 2.0. I'm sure the amount of cooling we have is more than adequate for what our cars can do from the factory. Manufacturers are always very conservative about such things. If you plan on modding your MSP's engine significantly, such as higher boost or NOS, then you would have to consider cooling. In stock form you are fine unless you want a prettier fan.

Which of course I do.. ;P What about the size? Any idea where I can find out what size the stock radiator is?

I have no idea where to find that information, I'm new the Mazda world and don't know where to find technical specifics. Sorry.
