Cooling issue

Hello all. This is my first post here, and my first time owning a mazda :P. I have a little issue with the 626 i just bought. Its a 95, and on the drive home my temperature needle was starting to go into the hot zone. Its a 5-speed, and as my RPMS would raise it seemed my temperature needle would go hotter. When i was cruising at lower rpms, or idling, the needle would start going colder. and then once i went from idle to 3k rpm in first gear, it would go all the way back to hot. So at first i was assuming that it was the coolant temp sensor. I also pulled over when the needle was all the way on H, and popped the hood and it wasnt too hot under there. And my heat wasnt really that hot either.

Once i got home, I popped the hood again to check the coolant. It was alittle low so i put some in there. I also popped off the radiator cap, and it released alot of pressure, and made a crazy girgling sound from the resiviour. When i felt the upper radiator hose, it seemed empty. So i'm not sure if maybe its the waterpump or themostat, or if its maybe a sensor. I also have this wierd ticking/clanking noise coming from the timing cover. Is the water pump drivin by the timing belt? or a different one? Thanks! :D

Sounds like it is a blown head gasket..Drain the oil and see if it comes out like oil or if it comes out milky. Typically the car being very temperature sensitive to load/rpm will indicate a blown head gasket, also the milky oil.
