I put a deposit on a msp, but everytime i call, no one returns my calls and they never have a date. Im having my dad call tommorow if they dont give a date within the next week or 2. im going to buy a wrx next week. Im sick of waiting for a car they said will be availble sept/oct.

go buy more for the poeple that are willing to wait.

just kidding just be patient you will be a lot happier with a msp then a wrx.

If you wait and get your msp, you'll never take a second look at a wrx on the road ... and you'll see lots of them. If you buy the wrx, the first time an msp pulls up next to you at a light, you're going to get a huge lump in your throat .... and lots of regrets. Hang on .....(sad2)

Don't worry about what everyone says. Too much BS with Mazda. I've been very happy with my WRX the last couple of weeks. Just do whatever makes you happy.:)

WRX > MSP

umm not a hard choice here :D

With really minor bolt ons you'll be in the 13 seconds...
Handling on a WRX kinda is okay...it's not the greatest (for normal driving)...but still...WRX > MSP espically because the WRX has an engine that was DESIGNED to go with a turbo, and not just an stock engine bolted on with a turbo.

I'd take a WRX in a heartbeat, AWD will come in handy in autocrossing, and WRXs can go 14.0 seconds 1/4 mile STOCK, so go for it.

But The MSP looks nicer than the WRX, the WRX's wierd bulb type headlights just are bleh....

Do what you want, I've driven a WRX, and I can tell you, it's fun :)

I like the msp because it looks sooo good and the interior/sound system is so good too, and it is not that slow.

On the other hand the wrx looks good, there are parts out for it now, and its fast as hell.

Ill know in a few days

You must be crazy. Dont be stupid, if you can afford the WRX, get the WRX. More power, all wheel drive, MUCH MORE potential.

And with a set of coilovers or lowering springs on the WRX it will destroy the MP3/MSP in the handeling dept......get the WRX if you can you wont regret. Just with some springs, downpipe, exhaust, chip and intake basically nothing will touch you on the auto x course unless its a full fledged race car or an evolution

plus you will run low 13's to boot;)

If you can afford the WRX get it, No contest and I love mazdas. Subaru has created an incredible platform at an unbeatable price.

Rishie

I was pissed i didn't get a WRX wagon over my P5.

and you can put in a killer system into the WRX :)

Oops...wrong site...this must be iclub.
Don't be so arrogant in thinking that this car we have is the best thing since sliced bread. It isn't. Yeah, it's a great car, but I hate to break it to you, the WRX is a much more refined and better engineered car. Anyone who know's anything about cars will also agree.

How will the WRX fare against the Mazdaspeed Protege in Solo II D-stock? I have some idea but I'm open to other opinions.

Also, when considering the cost difference, consider the difference in insurance rates as well. Chances are you;ll be paying more for the WRX.

Did I say anything about the MSP in this thread? I know the WRX has A LOT of potential. Having awd, factory turbo and a chassis designed from rally experience is a Killer combination. In what way is the WRX more refined than say a MSP?

I was trying give some breathing space in your WRX "praise" orgy for possible MSP posts...for a second there I thought I had stumbled onto an iclub thread.

Chill out

Im gonna stick with the mazdaspeed, everyone has a wrx, id rather be original.

Good idea. :) My mom's WRX is a 2002 and we've been having some problems with it. Hopefully the MSP turbo will be more dependable. And the WRX interior is so uninspiring. Unless you have a lot of money to blow on interior goodies, I think the MSP really will be the better deal. I still prefer my good ol' still mostly stock MP3 to my mom's WRX. Mine's just so comfy. :D

the w ay i see it is there is always going to be cars that will be faster than you no matter what, , you can add all your s*** to a wrx and it will be fast, but you could still get destroyed by 12 second civics or any other car because your not always going to be the fastest. I dont care how much faster the wrx is going to be over the msp, i like the msp better even if its not as fast. The msp is still fast, not as fast as a wrx but i will be just as happy driving the msp than a wrx. I drove my friends wrx home from san fransico to orange county. It was really fun to drive but whole time i was driving all i could think about is how much fun the msp speed is going to be, because i l ike proteges more. If you get a msp wouldn't it feel just as good modding that up to a point where you like it then a wrx. I know wrx is going to be faster, just as a lot of cars are, but with the stock turbo you can still make the speed pretty damn quick. It all comes down to a matter of taste, i have more love for the speed than a wrx. When i get the speed i am going to be soo muh happier looking at than i would with a wrx. The wrx is a better car in the way that the engine is better, and it goes faster, but the speed to me is wayy better. Theres always going to be someone with something better than you in any situation, but if you are happy with what yoiu got you shouldn't even care, because all that matters is that your happy with your self
if you like the wrx get it

if like the mazdaspeed seriously get it, don't be blinded by other things that get in your way, the mazdaspeed is a car, the wrx is a car, get what car will make you happy. Not everyone is going to be the guy with the fastest car in the world, as long as your happy with you car thats all that matters

sorry everyone but i have to say go with the WRX. so much more potential in that car plus, the aftermarket has welcomed it much better than the protege. i love my P5 but i am kicking myself for not getting something that they actually make parts for. good luck, either way you are getting a bad ass car.

I agree the MSP is a sweet ride and is considerably cheaper then the rex but if I had to choose I would get the rex.
A question. So will the MSP come out as a regular model non-limited car for 2003.5?
If so that wil lbe awesome for the mazda aftermarket community in terms of parts and recognition.

a couple things.....it is said that "if you have the money then get the wrx"

i agree, only if by "the money" you mean 30-32k
I think it owuld take this much to get a wrx with all options, new suspension, new stereo, and a cple body accents....if you dont get those things in addition to the msp then i tihnk the msp is superior in each of those areas......the 2 areas the msp seems to be deficient are in HP and AWD...so basically, i dont think it is fair to say the wrx, at 25k is a much better buy than the msp, regardless of whether or not you have the money....

at any rate, I think it is flattering as a future MSP owner to see the MSP being so frequently compared to the wrx, a car i dont think it was intended to compete with.
