I'm looking over the 2012-2013 side crash test ratings, and the IIHS do not seem to jive with the NHTSA. IIHS gives the Mazda3 5 stars for side crashes for these years, yet NHTSA side crash gives Mazda3 a 4 for driver, 2 for passenger, and 3 for pole crash. Why are these two agencies' results so different?
Also, I'm looking at buying a 2014 Mazda3 hatchback, and I'm concerned because the only model tested was a sedan...how do I know the hatchback side safety has really improved from 2013 to 2014?
