coloring springs

hi kids.

I just got some spool springs......and i want them to be orange.

They appear to have some kind of plastic covering on them - which by the way has been rubbed off in a couple spots and im wondering will they rust in these spots where the metal is showing through the covering?

And how would I color them? Do I just have them painted like I would a lip for my car, or do I need to somehow take off the plastic and have them powdercoated, or do I need to have them dipped in plastic somewhere somehow?

any help would be appreciated

how is wanting my springs to be the same color as my car instead of a color that doesnt go with anything on my car "rice"?

If the springs are visible then one would think it would make a lot of sense. If the springs are not visible then one would think that would be a sign the owner of the car has paid extra attention to the details when modifying their car.

Is painting my hood the same color as my car rice also? what about my lip or my grill?

I dont want to be rice so Ill leave the springs blue, and my hood black, and my grill white and my lip black and white......

im anxious to hear this one....

slug420 - you'll have to have the springs first sand blasted, then shot peened and then powdercoated orange if you want to change the color. Otherwise depending on the type of coating, you can use a chemical stripper.

Lol.. that's just the point.. the springs will not be noticed... so why paint them your car's color? What added performance gain is that? Btw, I happen to not think that people with parts unpainted are rice.. because not everyone has the utility to leave their car in a shop for 2 weeks to get it painted all at once.

true..powder coat??when the springs compress..wont that just crack the coating? i think they need to be soaked in that acid s*** or whatever and annodized..

You can just spray paint them. Geez. If it starts to come off 5 or 10 years down the road, repaint them. Most springs are just painted to begin with. Don't make this more difficult than it is.

Yes, I have painted springs before. Yes, they still have paint on them and the paint looks like new, albeit dirty.

ehh, im gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I can't stand it when people have a body kit on their car that is unpainted. it looks so horendous. IMO if your gonna have the cash to buy the body kit then get it painted. If you don't have the money then dont put the body kit on!. its just so ugly!

Yes I agree with the body kit on with no paint... I was referring to normal body parts like a hood or a door, etc.

Ya.. there are people out there other than you Razor.. and some of those people do not have the time/money to rent another vehicle while their's is at a shop being painted. Kinda funny how the world doesn't revolve around one single person..

How about people who do their own work and can't afford the time to finish it all... maybe it's their only car and they need to go to work/school... wow.. what a concept. Other people have responsibilities and can't put their car as their only priority.

lol.. and who the hell are you? Oh.. a Mazdaspeed owner.. someone that's more worthy than anyone else on the forum. Sorry. :flip: (sssh)

actually, rather than seeing him as a mazdaspeed owner, look at him as a 1300+ post member and yourself as a 150 post member 50 posts of which are arging the fact that you think painting springs is rice.

seriously. just leave this thread alone. you said you piece, you got slammed, now go away and continue walking around the forums with your rice-ometer........lemme know how you make out

lol you guys are hilarious! Judging classifying people in status groups just by their posts. haha. I'm so sure his 1300+ posts were all pure intelligent comments and advice. haha. Maybe your 1400+ posts were of ricing out cars like painting their springs or adding a new spoiler. haha
