question, can i put a turbo and cold air intake together on my protege. i have a 2001 dx auto. also does anybody know of any more mods i can do on an auto. i have done so far, short ram intake, new bosch spark plugs, gutted out the cat converter, and arospeed muffler. i just started right now, just looking for some help.

'question, can i put a turbo and cold air intake together on my protege.' Yes you can. But watch the air/fuel ratio once it gets really cold out.

A cold air intake on a turbo'd vehicle will do nothing but sound a bit different during spoolup because of filter location. When you think about it, the air going into the the intake get heated up when it passes through the turbo, so I'm willing to bet that there is pretty much no gain.

Au contraire mon frerre (sp) there is difference in temp, I don't remember exactly who it was exactly....I think smp3000 monitered the temp to be a couple of degrees lower while using a CAI setup. I have CAI setup right now...and my charge pipe is still cold to the touch even after several hard runs. (Well this in 40 and sub 40degree temps.)

its probably just irrelevant to the amount that the turbo actually gives you.

I think the idea is people that get cold air intakes, end up wanting to get a turbo later. They feel they wasted their money if it doesn't help. So um, sure whatever, you didn't waste yer money, and perhaps it woudl look cooler with the chrome piping
