Coilovers Vs Springs, what do you think and why?

What do you think of the Ground Control Coilovers or Skunk2 Coilovers?

Do you prefer Coilovers over springs?

Also, how easy is it to adjust height with the coilovers?

Is one easier to install then the other?

What are the advantage/disadvanteges of both?, etc.

Thanks for the input guys.

i prefer coilovers, although ive had no experience with either lowering springs or coilovers. i have this preference, because the shocks and springs on coilovers are specifically tuned to work together...whereas if you installed springs on stock shocks and struts, the shock may not be able to handle the increased load and will wear out faster. also, coils look cooler. the only disadvantage i could think of is the price. real coilover sets (i.e. JIC, ZEAL, TEIN) can run upwards of $1000 (i've read a listing for about $1000 PER CORNER for one really high performance set.)

from my current knowledge, adjusting height on adjustable coilovers isnt EXTREMELY hard.

with installing, id assume coilovers are easier...as they come pre assembled, and all you would have to do is pull out the stock strut assembly and pop the coilover in. but im 100% sure that i'm wrong on this one.

hope i could shine some light on the subject.

GC usually oversprings their kits IMHO i had their set on my RS for a while .
they are a decent bang/buck setup. I assume the skunk2 kit is about the same

That depends on what you are doing. With a coilover setup you ned to have it cornerweighted to get a propersetup( dont email me saying that your car is fine without doing it)
You can set the rideheight that you want. Aftermarket springs are a plug and play

GC is really easy. you just loosen the 3/16 bolt adn spin the lower perch to the desired drop. (beforwarned each time you raise or lower the car more than a 1/4 " you will need another alignment)
Skunk 2 i believe you need to use the two spanner wrenches. Little bit harder but not much.

Aftermarket(Eibach H&R...) are a plug and play
Coilovers need to be set and reset till the car is level and the cornerweights are set.

read above

no problem

i have the Eibach setup on my MP5 and love it
i thinkits the perfect stance
not too high and not ghetto lowered..
on my 99 Subaru RSt i have a set of DMS 50mm Rally struts. they run 3500 for the set. i can raise the car 4" over stock and lower it about three inches from stock. they have 24 click adjustments on compression and rebound..

Its all on what YOU want from your car.
