codes???

Hmm, I haven't heard that one, but I'm pretty sure that all new cars have to abide by the OBDII specifications. It's like a government regulation thing. Unless there is an even newer OBDIII out that I don't know about. In my car, the OBD port is under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. I don't know about mazda 3s', but i'mm 99% sure they have the same port(not necessarily in the same location though).
 
I've heard that, as well. It's not the protocol (they're all OBDII since 1996), it's the communication bus. I heard the A-zone scanners won't read the CAN bus that we use. Haven't verified it, though.

Tony, you can just come over my house if you need to read a code.
I have a CAN scanner and then we can just look it up in my service manual. (cool)

Ok kool thanks. i took it to the dealership as you already know but i havnt put my CAI back on yet so once i do that if i throw a CEL ill call ya up.
