COBB sri - ecu reflash?

Hi, my car is completely stock and I am putting on a cobb sri. Will I have any issues if I don't use the COBB maps and I run the stock tune?

It's crazy to get an AP and pay 500 bucks just to put an intake on the car.

How many of you are running the sri on stock tune? Any issues with safety?

Youll be fine. If anything unhook your battery to resest everything, I know some people do that to reset the ecu. Otherwise nothing is going to happen unless you get really worked and start running a screwing with cats. See me sig as to my mods, no AP and things are fine. Dont worry.

Just put it on...you'll be fine...I would unhook the battery while you do this install...then when you are done hook it back up...it will reset all of the fuel trims and such...will help the computer learn your new addition and drive it normal for atleast a few cycles or like 150 miles...I know it will be hard but don't go around driving like a jackass out of the gate

Just chiming in to add another testimonial- no ECU tune or AP here, and I'm doing fine with Cobb SRI and Forge BPV. Power and fuel economy both seem to have improved, too, so bonus.

I've been running the sri for just over a year with no tune, added the forge bpv a while back to it as well, runs great no tune needed.

Not to say the AP wouldnt help but it is a lot to spend for just that mod.

I would recommend that when you do the Cobb SRI you also do the Cobb Turbo Inlet Pipe (TIP). The installs go hand-in-hand and you're really not doing a whole lot for the car without replacing both.

the tip has minor gains. 90% of the benefits come from the sri

My car, albeit a Speed6, sounded like it was choking during compression braking, and WOT acceleration from third gear through sixth (when boost values are higher). The TIP alleviated that for me and my mileage improved as well.

My car would hit fuel cut and buck badly at higher speeds durring WOT, when I had just the SRI.

Not sure about the supra, but this is why our car has a wideband o2 sensor. Yes an intake regardless of type will lean you out. But the ecu will compensate for this by adjusting the fuel trims. That's not to say you will never hit boost/fuel cut. Its just a safety precaution to prevent you from getting too lean or overboosting.

anyone here still show the check engine light because of the intake messing up the trim? mine never went away, it doesnt show up occasionally but its usually there... even with the AP retune it still shows.

however, the AP was a worthy investment for what i can do. i felt obvious, OBVIOUS power gains, my turbo has spiked 21.3 psi after just installing and loading one of the pre-loaded maps.

beyond just the re-mapping though its a full on data logger and data display, not as convenient as the dashhawk considering its only one type of data at a time, but very handy :)

what CEL are you getting? if its a lean condition you may have a leak somewhere...

Why does everyone on here talk about leaks??? The intakes are crap and will drive your trims crazy, like mine. The fact of the matter is that not enough people pay attention or can monitor trims to see what happens when you slam an intake. At heavy throttle my trims were in excess of +36% basically half in stft and the the other in the ltft. I said heck with it and took the sri down, now with the stock air box I don't ever see anything over +6.2%.

Also if you do a search you will see that a large amount of intake users are also reporting high trims, but no one cares.

That's the stupidest arguement I've ever heard. The reason we say leak is that it is expected that the ltfts will be high since the car can inhale so much more air. Since 91% of people are running intakes without tunes and without issues you obviously ****** something up during the install. A lean condition that severe is indicative of an air leak. Since you put the stock airbox on and are still seeing high trims chances are you ****** up that install as well. Recheck everything you did and stop blaming a product that is obviously good because you screwed up
