Cobb Inlet Problem...

Well I finally got around to installing my inlet today with a buddy of mine that did it on his speed. He doesn't have a forge bpv like I do, he has the sri and inlet combo like I do except stock bpv. So I was reading that the inlet makes things louder but my car seems a little bit quieter. I keep getting this weird noise when I'm hitting the gas, like the car is blowing off little by little, kinda like air is leaking. I just checked all the hose and all the clamps an everything is on right. I thought I just being paranoid, but then my CEL came, so I don't know what to do, last time a CEL came on I went to the dealership and they re flashed my ECU. Any of you guys have any say on this matter? Thanks!

Do you have access to a scan tool so we can find out the code? I bet its P2187 which is usually caused by a leak causing your fuel trims to be way off to the point of throwing that code.

you might just need to adjust you bpv. i was just reading the other day about how some people have to adjust their turbosmart valves after putting on an inlet. maybe try a different spring/shim combo with your forge valve?

I went back today to work on the car, because I couldn't believe that a code would just come up from the inlet, so I decided to look further. My buddy had not pushed in the inlet all the way into the turbo, he pushed it in and closed the clamp while I took care of the other end connecting my intake and the bov hose. I know a lot of you guys are going to make fun and say I should have checked but I figured sense he installed his he would have done it fine, so I didn't even bother to look, by the time I got back home it was dark so I just took a flashlight and looked at the hoses and everything looked fine. Everything is all in place now, I took the battery out again because I couldn't reach to push it in further. The CEL is off, lets hope it doesn't come back again. Can anyone tell me, because my friend lives far from me and I drove my car back to my place like that thinking it was fine, will this do any damage to my turbo/engine? This is just a sort of educated guess, but since the leak was before the turbo, the noise was most likely unmetered air being sucked into the intake system, which means you were running lean until you fixed the problem. Considering how rich these cars are set up, as long as you didn't get on it hard you might be okay. Pull the plugs and see if there is any evidence of burning from a too lean mix. Some damage from too lean is immediate (boom and shrapnel flies) others can take a while to be noticed.

yeah i drove for about 30 miles ran hard once. i ran the car yesturday, it was a nice day an i noticed the difference. The car spool faster, weird nose when not flooring it though. The forge sounds different.
