so is the cobb sri really worth waiting all this time for?
or should i just get the HKS sri since i wouldnt have to wait a million years for it
or i have hear that the cpe sri will be out within a few weeks
opinions anyone??
thank you!

I'm not sure, I wonder how the cpe sri is gonna be. They are all about the same probably just different filter. I like the hks and would get that over cobb

Read over on another forum, that Mazda3Mods is going to be coming out with a SRI & turbo inlet pipe combo, you might want to look into that.

ATP already has an SRI, Turbo Inlet combo. I'll be getting it and replacing my CAI soon I hope. If you really want an SRI now get the HKS and change out the filter.

The HKS intakes have been on back order for the past few weeks. I was told they would be in stock on Tuesday but heard that didn't happen.

this isn't an option in your poll, but i would wait until the cpe sri comes out, find out how it rates, then decide between that and the cobb sri.

$300 is TOO MUCH for a sri...

I just saw that the CP-e sri is due to be out at the end of the month. More than likely the direction I'll go in.

Leaning heavily toward CP-e but prospect of a Cobb airbox keeps me from a final decision. Maybe dabears will change the equation even further with an airbox option.

I hate stupid questions, (dunno)but I hate being ignorant worse. So...what airbox are you guys talking about; just the filter on the Sri? or something else.
Also everyone is waiting for the Cobb sri, but I see it for sale right now on several vendor sites; is everyone simply waiting for a color option other than blue?

cpe

personally I still like the cobb design more and think its better. but if i was in your spot I would want something now! so i would say get a non super overpriced used cobb SRI or get hte cpe. Since CPEs is coming out soon, the demand for cobbs has gone down, so the used cobb SRIs should be reasonably priced from now on

The cobb sri may be on sale from other vendor sites, but they are on back order from Cobb directly so orders aren't supposed to ship out until January.

Ok I feel even less intelligent now. In my defense, the reason I said the intake was available is because Cobbs own website does not indicate a shortage intil you place the order, (BS IMO). Also, other vendor sites indicate a shortage only when selecting the Street unit version, hence my confusion.
Hopefully we'll hear something about the CPE soon, I like the plastic Cobb but I don't think the small amount of metal in the CPE photos will transfer much heat.

Take a look at Cobb's track car pix and you can see what we're talking about in terms of an airbox:

Also, Autoexe makes a really nice box as part of their $790 intake. Both airboxes isolate the filter from the engine compartment and draw air from the front grill.

I'm primarily interested in it as a way to reduce the intake suction sound (basically a long, drawn out gasping noise), while hopefully keeping the blow-off and other turbo sounds.

how many times can this be asked...

im sorry its just an intake..thats all it is.

-the cobb is the best bang for your buck.

-i have the hks and personally love it, the car made good power.

-and the cp-e looks like a quality product (just like the cobb)

they all sound the same pretty much (like an intake)...
