I got an AP coming in the mail but my MS CAI has no air straightener. I see that the map available says it is for the CAI with the straightener. Can I still use that map problem free?
I will be getting a straightener soon but not before the AP. Should I install the AP now or do I need to wait?

Thanks and I appreciate all the knowledge floating around these forums!

Mazda quit selling the original one for a reason. and did not resume sales until the straightener could be included in the packaging (even though it produced great gains without the straightener) for one simple reason:

The turbulence produced between the filter and the MAF was affecting the reading of the air column by the MAF and producing an unacceptable lean AFR under certain conditions. I don't know if they discovered this in handling warranty claims on blown engines, or by data logging by their R&D people.

If you've gotten by so far without problems, you may be o.k., but since the AP will probably lean out your AFR even more, if it was me, I'd wait for the $13 straightener before leaning out the mixture any more. Just one opinion.
