Cobb AP Discussion Thread

I just noticed that i boost higher with the stage 1 91 map then with the stage 1 91 sftih map. Anyone have a good theory as to why this may be? i know this because i set my dh alarm's and alerts based on the stage 1 91 sftih map, temp's have stayed close to the same, and the simple stage 1 91 map is setting the boost alarm off like mad. lol. Dont get me wrong, the car seems like its faster now, and the weird under boost suction noise has changed for the better.

The difference is in the MAF calibration for each map which changes the ECU Load calculation.....

you guys should edit/ update the first post on what are ideal goals for certain parameters, I.E. knock should be as close to zero as possible, LTFT should be be between so and so, etc etc. That way its all together on the first post, Just my .02 and it would keep people like me from asking questions about each one haha

question guys.

when you download a map does it tell or show you what it is changing or what it coonsists of?

There's a descriptive summary of basic parameters of the map and what your application should be in order to use the map. Outside of that, you'll have to upload it into ATR to see the tables themselves.

gotcha. just trying to figure things out before i pull the trigger on an AP.

Cobb AP question

getting my new AP tomorrow! very excited.. not sure what map to run yet tho... mods are: Fujita CAI, PG TIP, TurboXs Hybrid BOV (for now), ATP 3" Catless DP and stock catback. should i just run stage 1+ or stage 2... or is there another map i should use... im a mechanic but tuning will be new to me so...

I think you'd be fine with the StgII... got 93octane? As for the exhaust... whatcha waiting for? If you're a mechanic, you gotta know a good muffler shop... have somebody weld you up a custom 3" catback that splits into 2.5" mufflers and really unlock some power.

thats actually the plan.. lol.. but i spent all my money on the DP, AP and tires.. so in a month or so ill have the rest of the exhaust done. and ya i only run 93 octane

why 2.5" mufflers and not 3"? i'm curious for future reference.

I think he means a 3" splitting into a Y with two 2.5" pipes. This would make it quieter.

3" all the way would be the best for optimal gains, correct?

Yes... If you're looking for the most performance potential then I recommend the CS as it has bolt-flanges and is actually 3.15" ID. The CPE is good as well at 3", but has slip-joint flanges and isn't as "pretty" as the CS. If you just want some more rumble, the Magnaflow will do at 2.5".

Ok whats the point of getting a COBB app if it states you cant use any aftermarket intake. Or you must use theres or risk blowing up your motor? As in running lean etc.

I wanted to get an ECU tune but after reading there PDFS im worried I cant. Since I have these mods as of now

Corksport Inlet
Corksport SRI
Corksport SRI Cold air box
Corksport Exhaust
Turbo XS straight pipe
HKS BOV VTA

Oh and A DEFI BOOST gauge with the triple pod :)

Buy the AP, run the stage 2+sf xxoctane map and then use ATR to customize it (calibrate the MAF tables).

I'm assuming when you say "Corksport Exhaust" you mean a turbo back exhaust as you must have a DP or a TP for stage 2.

You will also have to do some tweaking because you are running VTA. Most people don't have issues on stock tune with VTA, but I don't know how the Cobb tunes like VTA.

EDIT

I just noticed this: Turbo XS straight pipe

Cool thnx

If you don't have something that lines up with an OTS map, have an e-tune or dyno tune done to play it safe.

I'm also running Win7 Pro 64-bit and the AP software without issue.
