Cobb AP Discussion Thread

So now I have over 240 miles on this unlearned tune. WTF. I've driven all different ways now.

I'm thinkin of going back to the 93 sf tune.

Ok, so I'm a little worried. I have over 300 miles on this flash and the ECU still hasn't taken it. The CEL is still flashing. I called Cobb to see what's what, and they had never heard of the CEL flashing thingy. They told me not to worry as the car is always learning anyway.

So I went out and ran some logs with the Stage 2 93 v101d, I'm no expert but these just don't look right to me at all. I think the Stage 2+SF 93 v101c was working better for me. It's not on these logs but I've had boost spikes up to 20.7 while monitoring live data, but it didn't go that high while doing these.

Help me out and let me know what you see.

You have to stop worrying about your ecu learning maps. You are going to go insane watching the check engine light. The only thing I see wrong is the +9 LTFT in one of your logs. Do you have ATR? If so read the tuning guide, do step two to capture the maf calibration log and post it. I will tell you exactly what to adjust to calibrate your MAF.

Marauder, I think I'd just keep the map you've got right now until the v1.01 maps come out, that way you can make one flash and gain all the new features that they might have. Sounds like the additional maps and various other features will be here within the next week or two, so hold off and keep the map you've got. I didn't see anything obnoxious in your logs, so I think you'll be alright.

And yes, calibrating the MAF is a solid improvement in the way the car drives. I think it's beneficial to do this once you settle on a map.

I applied for the ATR program from Cobb a few hours ago. I haven't gotten an email back with instructions on where or how to get it yet.

I have a FMIC install next thurs, so once I get that on I'm going to be pretty set for a while. Unless I come into a cat'd dp cheap I don't see me dropping any loot on anything. I'm considering an e-tune when that's done.

I just don't like the blinking for soooo long. Makin me paranoid.

Ok so with the addition of the griffin tmic, i saw boost cut once and the occaisonal knock count... i need a map that keeps the boost around 15psi and adds a bit more fuel for the tmic...

any ideas... the car isnt far enough along for stage 2...

only have KMD internals, AP, and griffin tmic

I would just try a Stage 1 93 map for now. You may need to look into an intake to gain more from your car.

its funny you say that steve because the car with the stock airbox is seeing intake temps that are 100+ degrees... Also, im brainstorming on a few ideas to keep heat out of the tmic

also, i just downloaded ATR and i pulled the stage 1 93 oct map up... the boost targets on the of the boost target maps i was looking all set to 1.00 ??? Why is this?

Also, when tuning, what are the primary maps that you want to adjust? There are so many different things that can be adjusted

I'm really not that familiar enough to guide you in tuning with ATR. First thing I'd do is follow the instructions in the guide and calibrate your MAF. Until you adjust your boost targets, that value of 1.00 won't be changed.

you have to go into edit, then configure options, then use standard values and you should see psi values now. i wouldn't change your boost targets. if anything i'd raise the values in the boost limits tables.

the value i was talking about was called "boost comp" that was all 1.00

so what exactly is boost comp? i see its also done by gear too...

also, i did what bova said and i went into configure options and clicked the box to "use standard units?"

Also, what is "Abs Load"???

Not sure how to describe load but its usually at 100% when your are at full power with 0 boost. Once boost creeps up you will see it get close to 180-200%.

Releative throttle response for me usually hits 75% which is actually 100% WOT.

no offense but you need to read the tuning guide or just not mess with anything cause you could end up screwing things up. if you go to the help file there is all the info on every table.

im not touching anything until i understand 100% what i would be messing with... im having trouble locating the tuning guide... is it part of the AP manager?

Some food for thought:

In the Tuning Guide v1.05, it shows details for FFS and LC tables in ATR. I'd have to check in my papers at home to see which copy of the guide I have, and if that's present.
