Clutch issues worse after new master cylinder

So I have had the infamous shifting issues for the past few years. I have tried new fluids, motor mounts, poly bushings in the shifter, new slave cylinder, and just the other day, a new master cylinder. After the master cylinder, I have an even tougher time shifting than before. Usually it is rough after the car has been running for about 15 minutes or so, but now it is immediate and almost always. If I am in reverse and back out of somewhere, I cant get into first unless I pump the clutch a time or two before shifting. I am leaving for a road trip to Montreal on wed and we are planning on taking my car but I cant if it is like this. I tried bleeding the slave cylinder a bit more yesterday in case I had some ari in the line still but it didn't help. Anybody have any suggestions? Should I put the old master cylinder back in? Thanks for any thoughts.

so, what are the issues? that it won't go into first without letting the clutch in and out? is that the only issue? does it shift ok at speed?

Extremely hard to shift after it has been running for ~15 minutes or so, even at speed. Not all gears, mostly 1,2,5, and reverse (obviously not at speed). If you havn't experienced it, count yourself lucky, but a lot of us have. The issue with first (having to pump the clutch after coming from reverse) just started after replacing the master cylinder.

unfortunately, it sounds like you still have air in the system. (since you have to pump the pedal for it to work)

this is one of the best bleeding tools every home mechanic should have in his garage:

So I think I finally solved my problem. Apparently our clutch pedals are adjustable! Usually hydralic clutches arent adjustable, so I never even bothered to look at that. After adjusting it a bit, it shifts fantasticly! I had a smile and chuckled like a little girl everytime I shifted on my way home last night, it's been that long since it shifted properly. I of course feel like an idiot for never checking it before, but it works now. I am so happy my wife and I can take my car to Montreal next week instead of hers! (03 Elantra......boring!)
