Clunk Updates

I still have heard nothing from my dealership:mad: :wtf:
The GM there said it would still be a while and that was like a week ago so I hope a better fix then these "new" bushings is coming still. But we might still have to wait awhile from what I've heard. But any news might be good news...keep updating us all...thanks

My dealer was told by Mazda that I was to get new bushings tried on my car. These bushings were coming from Canada and were to be in about 3 weeks ago. I had my Energy bushings replaced last week by the 156D's, because these new bushings had not come in yet. I took my car in today to get my head unit replaced and these 156E's happened to come in also today. The owner saw my car their and went ahead and put the new bushings on. (The owner is also the head Mazda mechanic). I was not able to talk to him when I picked up the car, as he had already left. I will try and find out more tomorrow. I find it hard to believe that these are the permanent fix, I would think NEWF would of known about these already if they were.

Anyone see the new autoweek (w/ the Porsche 959 on the cover)? In the Autolog, the MSP is featured. Ironically enough, they mention, "What is that bump coming from the back end, and we don't mean the subwoofer..." I'm writing in to let them know exactly what it is. I hope some jacka$$ at MNAO got a chance to read that.

....and Newf has always been aware of Mazda's attempts to fix the clunk, they just have me by the balls when it comes to talking about it.

I've been testing their other attempts and giving feedback and trying to come up with a better solution for months. All I can say there.

But, I do NOT have a sample of these new bushings yet, and I was supposed to test these before mass production?????? They were supposed to be here weeks ago...damn mail. All I can say is if they do fail again on you guys, it's not my fault. They were supposed to and had agreed that until I said it was fixed, they would not release any half assed attempt of a bushing.

You guys with the new bushings, look under your car, is it white or black?

I really hope the fix isn't a set of greasable bushings. There are cars out there with much stiffer suspensions than ours that have no problems with clunking and do not use greasable bushings. I am really hoping its endlinks AND bushings that are redesigned, but from what you're saying, newf, I doubt it .

I said this 1 time before. That I could not say 1 thing about it. Because Mazda has me by my 1 left nut, and 1 right nut.

But since day 1, I've been trying to accomplish 1 thing. And that is to not just get 1 thing replaced, but the other 1 as well.

These new 156E's look exactly like the old 156D's. Mazda probably just changed the part number, hoping it would quiet us down a bit. :wtf: :mad: :'(

Since mazda is nowhere near my nutsack, I can at least say what I was told. I took my msp in for the reflash, and the service mgr actually asked ME about the clunk. He then said that he went to meetings with the engineers frequently, and that we would definitely be getting the new bushings in mid october along with other parts of the suspension. He did mention the endlinks and sway bar as things that were being looked at by MNAO.

This is just strange...if they aren't coming until mid OCt, why would they proactively want me to come in now to install the pseudo fix when they've been putting off any fix until a permanent fix comes along? Just plain odd...

at this point I think my enlinks and bushings are so shot, the swaybar may just fall off at some point soon. :O

yes, endlinks and bushings are being looked at. Have been all along. i wanted all or nothing from the second I pursued this. The bushings are failing due to another problem. They are not the cause, but the result imho

I hope they replace our swaybars as well, mainly because I'm sure the powdercoating has worn to the metal. We shall see. If this Mid-October stuff is true, its awesome. Right before winter. We'll really know then if it works!

call me pessimistic but its been 2 yrs since we had this problem and how many time have we heard its coming out next month?

I've been thinking if it's not fixed, I may remove the bar all together for the winter months. Why would I need it in the winter? Winter steelies, 15" tires ruin the handling as much as one can expect anyways, and the roads here get aweful duuring the winter with the frost heaving everything everywhere so a little less harsh of a ride would be a good thing. I drove around last Jan-March with no bushings, meaning the bar was just hanging there on my mp3, and it really wasn't that bad for handling.

Question is, with the bar gone, is there some chance of something else getting damaged? Some other strain or preassure somewhere? If there is forget it, I'm not taking it off.

Doesn't the LX drive around with no sway bar just fine?


Don't get me wrong, I want this fixed, and this is by no means acceptable right now
