Clunk fix in two weeks... is this new?

i remember reading the swaybars were thicker? anybody know what MM our fronts and backs are? I could have sworn they actually went through with it. Newf was mentioning this when buying his MSP...newf is this true?

MSP guys/gals, plese pardon the invading martians known as the MP3 clunk people :D

We are peaceful beings.

cool, i was wondering if any one has had this problem what is the link to find out more about this clunking noise

From the Mazdaspeed Protege Preliminary Spec Sheet (paraphrased):

Front suspension has 27mm sway bar and polyurethane bushings.

Rear suspension has 20mm sway bar and rubber bushings.

My guess is that we get poly rear bushings and new end links. But that's just a SWAG.

front is thicker on the speed....see above post. Struts have been retuned somewhat to make them a little stiffer. Poly front bushings, rubber rear. Rear is identical to mp3....BUt one of the main engineer's involved with the clunk claims the rear is different somehow from the mp3 although I've never been told why he said that, and I think it's BS. put the two cars on a ramp, and their identical part for part in the rear.

oh, and I tried poly rear's....didn't work. Was one of the attempts for a fix. Perhaps wrong size. Creaked like a b**** too.

Jeeze I've read the damn clunk thread ok. I read it a long time ago. But what people are saying isn't going to happen. They aren't going to swap out multiple parts of the rear suspension for such a small number of cars (although its growing enough that they are seriously looking into options).

I'm not posting my crap to the MP3 forum, thats all I said.

Mazda IS NOT going to replace the sway bar, or reconfigure the rear setup. Mazda WILL find a solution through low cost alternatives that lessen the effect or solve the problem.

for most of us they already have replaced our endlinks and sway bar along with our bushings.

The tech knew all about it and said that Mazda finally developed correct bushings and a permanent fix will be available in two weeks.

Its even written on my service printout that the fix will be available in two weeks.

I work at Sweeney and have been told the same thing, I'm gonna talk with the service manager tomorrow and try to find out where this info is coming from.

I'd take it with a grain of salt at this point though.

Just had my clunk fixed on Tuesday last week. Still has not come back. Dealer replaced the bushings and the sway bar itself! (thought that wasa little odd but works for now)

I'm getting another set (will be my second) of the 165D's.....

No mention at the Dealership about newer bushings when they ordered these ones yesterday.

NEW UPDATE AS OF SEPT.22/2003 FROM MAZDA CANADA

Mazda Canada called me.....THERE IS A NEW BUSHING; it supercedes the 165D.

So, new Bushing rumors are True.

...be about 10 days till I get it.......

New bushings won't help...the endlinks will still wear out...damn; until the new parts include endlinks as we've been believing, I'm very skeptical.

True....I'll still have to moniter the end-links. But atleast (**hopefully**) it will eliminate the Clunking; it's getting pretty bad.

I'll deal with the end-links, but the banging is driving me nuts.
