Clear key fob error code before firmware upgrade?

I've recently purchased a 2017 CX-5 and am about to upgrade the firmware from the v59 to the latest one so I can instal the aftermarket CarPlay module. A few weeks ago I managed (after like 5 tries) to program 2 extra keyfobs with one of the aftermarket ODB plugin devices that you buy on Amazon. The keyfobs seems to work fine and a locksmith cut the keys and they are also working well but I have a little red key error code that also comes up on the main dial and in one of the info screens as an error.

After I saw the error I changed the batteries on all the key fobs to make sure it wasn't an old key fob battery causing the error. At the moment everything works though so I'm not too concerned. Is there an easy way to clear this error and see if it comes back?

Is this something I need to clear or resolve before upgrading the firmware and installing the CarPlay module?

Thanks!

-Edit----
Reading things online seem to say that disconnecting the battery for a few minutes could be a way to clear the key fob error and / or see if it comes back. I will try that as it seems pretty harmless either way.

You were able to program the fobs to work on your car yourself with a device you got from Amazon?

Perhaps I missed it before, but this is the first I've heard of being able to do it yourself.

Gotta link for this device? Just curious.

If you search for BestKeys or Auto Key Max and see an ODB plug in thing with a green "X" on it then that's the device I used and you download an app. I think it ran into issues with a "pin" code several times but eventually it worked for 2 fobs. I also saw people that said Ace Hardware would do this 3rd party fob programming and key cutting for a not bad price so in retrospect I would probably have tried that route to work with someone that's maybe more experienced in it.
