Cleaning the engine, etc...

I just did all my vacuum hoses and wires, etc. in blue and really want to keep my engine bay clean. Anyone know of a good way to do this - products/methods?

I used to use GUNK on older, dirtier engines. Not too sure what to use now. I've not worried about keeping the engine clean before. I would also like to know..

Take a bottle of Mr. Clean.
Put it in a spray bottle.
Spray it all over the engine (that you can get wet)
let it dry
Spray it all over the engine again.
Rinse it off with medium to low pressure.
Works like a charm!

I actually used just that this weekend. The way to go with engine cleaning as well is not to let it go for too long between cleanings. As far as which areas not to get wet....that's a very good question that someone with a bit more engine knowledge will hopefully answer.

You can wet everything except the top of the valve cover where the spark plug cables come out of.

I wash my engine almost everytime I wash my car. I usually wash it with the P5 turned on. Not with the engine Hot! Let it cool down and then wash your engine.

The top of the valve cover you can clean with a damp cloth...
