Cigarette lighter replace

2 problems actually. First, the plug in the console next to the AUX audio plug does not connect some adaptors that work fine in other vehicles. Put another way, some adapters (for cell recharger) work fine, GPS not at all in this car, same adapter works fine in my wife's Passat. Anyone else have this problem?

Additionally, the main socket in the dash is totally out, don't know which fuse i should check (found the fuse for the console unit, no reference to dash unit in same diagram.)

So, thot I'd just do a replacment like I've done in past vehicles. Wondering if these units pop out or is it necessary to do some loosening behind/under where they attach? if so and you've done it, would love some pointers to save some time.

Update for any interested. The fuse box for the main dash cigarette lighter is under the glove box. After unclipping the black plastic protective cover (2 clips that come undone easily with hardly any pressure with a screw driver) reveal 2 plastic wing nuts on the white fuse panel which I turned about 180 degrees for access to fuses. BTW, the black plastic cover that is removed first has a diagram explaining which fuse is which function. So, found the fuse (15A) for the lighter and it was bad. Replacement got the lighter to work fine, but the orange light ring still does not engage. Any ideas on fixing that?

Plan to purchase another "one to two" adapter for the console plug as they are not expensive and that could solve the problem mentioned above. I can update if anyone is interested.

Next task, attempt to get the smoking at idle problem resolved. As my S3 was purchased used, does anyone know if the original warranty can transfer to a new owner?
