Chirping the tires in your MSP?

N00b question forthcoming.

I was driving around with my friend today, hes got a RSX Type-S, and he took one run from a stoplight, he chirped first, second, and third. I mentioned it and he goes so, can your MSP do that? I said i dunno, I never tried it. I have chirped the tires in first, just dropping in the clutch from like 2-3kish, but How do you chirp them from 1st, to second, and second to third? Do you just drop the clutch back in instead of easing it back in? I never even tried, so i figured id ask instead of f'in up my car :D How do you do it, or can you, in your MSP?

edit: post 300, im now a Experienced Member, but i ask newb questions :D

Well I used to be able to do it in my Integra without a problem but now I can only do it sometimes when I shift from 1st to second if I do it fast enough. But just because he does it doesn't mean it's a good thing, everytime he is doing that he brakes traction and loses some speed. Also remember that our cars have fantastic tires stock where as the tires on a stock RSX-s are crap, and any RSX owner will tell you that that's the first thing to go.

The RSX comes with P205/55R16 Michelin MXM4 , while the MSP comes with Potenza RE040 215/45ZR17. It's always easier to "bark 2nd or 3rd" with a smaller wheel, also your shift time and clutch make a huge difference. I had a 97 Probe GT with 225/50R/16 stock and could almost always Bark third if I wanted, Then I put a set of 235/45R/17 on and would just barely bark second gear, No Bark with a Quick shift means faster times

i chirp all the time, chirp going into first then chirp going into second and once and only once i chirped going into third, dont ask me how i did that one, but i think what its was was just pressing down the clutch and then adding some extra gas while going into second the quickly releasing the clutch. i think, i probably confused you, sorry, maybe ill show you at the meet this sunday.

you mean stay on the gas all the way while shifting, so your revs are higher then they should be coming back into gear? I understand its not good for the car also, I was just wondering if MSP's can chirp em through 3rd also. I never thought to try, or cared. He also has a 6 speed, does that make it easier for him to do it? Just made me wonder since he asked.

How to Chrip Tires:

Simply apply the gas toward the end of the shift(when releasing the clutch), more force for higher gears(ie 3rd)

Small tires makes a HUGE difference. My friends POS Tercel( 89hp!!) Can chrip to 3rd on a 4 spd.

Our tires are big so the chrip for 3rd will be small if any at all.

I can chrip for 2nd but not 3rd, never tired.

It is bad for the car if you do it a lot, it burns the clutch if done a lot.

Peace

yeah for cars like ours I wouldnt reccomend slamming into gears. If you want to prolong the trannies life let it slide into gear. Also try launching at 3500-4000 you should still be able to catch traction, if not let slightly on and off the gas pedal when it starts to go out.

********!!! :D

I chirp from 1st to 2nd from time to time (not intentional). I guess I shift quick (since my other 5 cars were stick) it's natural. I guess next time I'm out I can try 2nd to 3rd chirp, but I think thats the most are cars would probably give us unless you are pushing more torque. Plus I don't know if the lsd will have any effect on this since this is my first car with lsd. But if your going to try and don't feel comfortable doing it, then don't do it. Save your self from grinding up syncros in your tranny and burning out the clutch.

nah i dont plan on trying it, i was just wondering can we, and how, since i never tried really. I don't like messing up my car :)
