chips?

^That would be a "CHIP"..

ok smartass. You wanna play this game?

Here is a REAL chip...

there is a difference between an ECU re-flash and an actual chip

i agree with big daddy. with an access port you are, like the name implies, getting access to the manufactures ECU, not changing the chip.

WOW lol
bigdaddy made me laugh though so its a good day :)

easy on the noobies big guy LOL (silly)

back on topic here is a cp-e standback engine controller made for MS3s.
http://www.cp-e.com/2047.html

I first came across it when reading Dsport mag. they did a test n tune with it on one of their own mazdaspeed 3s. they put that on it + about 5 other cp-e mods and later some suspension mods + even more stuff I am not certain what though. The car runs at redline time attack so that being said, I take it that the cp-e stanback is probably good.

haha, oops. I generally dont do that, but I was kind of pissed off last night.

The idea of the Vishnu Chip is interesting. It looks as though it replaces the whole ECU unit. Its also appealing to me because I live 5 miles away from the guy that writes all of the codes for Vishnu tuning. :)

OP would do well to use the search engine as there are hundreds, if not thousands of threads on ECU tuning options for this engine, their various merits and issues. "Tune" or "Tuning" would be a better search term than "chips" for this engine.

As OP is relatively new, may I humbly suggest that the search engine here is not very good. I've found it better to use Google and begin the Google search with the phrase "mazdas247" (without the quote marks) followed by the search term. That will cause Google to search this forum for the term being searched.

Tuning this engine is a bit of a challenge to do properly and there is a health debate about options and solutions based on the individual's performanc goals.
