Chips like crazy...

 I know people have posted this a few times but now it's my turn to vent!

My P5 chips like CRAZY. I don't tailgate people, I stay out of the dirty spots on the road, and I don't drive fast. But still...WHAM, I get chips off the front bumper all the time. :wtf: I am going through the touchup paint like it's my business. I wish I had the money to repaint with multiple coats of yellow and multiple applications of clear coat. Maybe that would help.

(werd)

I'm starting to lose interest in counting the new chips on my hood. Maybe I'll get my hood bullet proof painted some day.

edit: and with our yellow cars it's real easy to notice the little black specks on the hood

the fact that you can see bare metal in those chips is :bs:

Wish I would of invested in the 3M protection :(

My dealer had already done the 3M protection. Doesn't help. I'm not gonna jump on the Mazda paint sux band wagon, but I will say they use some soft paint or real thin coats. Oh well, having one of the few Orange cars on the road is an even trade.... sort of.

I don't see bare metal on my chips, but I do see the black primer underneath...which is VERY noticeable on a yellow car. I don't think the paint is bad, just that they didn't use very much.

No, it wasn't the plastic treatment. My dealer is way to cheap to spring for that. lol. My bad, I thought you were refering to the spray on treatment that supposedly seals the paint to prevent minor chipping and protect from pollution and bird s***. I forget what 3M calls it. It's like a clear-coat clear-coat.

ok...i was thinking of that plastic film stuff. that sucks that the spray-on stuff didn't work...just be thankfull you don't have a black car. :(

I've had black cars in the past and I feel your pain brother. Of course, the Black would have been my second choice. What a slow learner I am.

Yeah I got the paint treatment Simoniz is what it's called. Has teflon in it. Whatever. It's supposed to protect from water spotting and sap and stuff. I don't have a garage and I have to park under trees at work so hopefully it does something. If it doesn't come clean then they will fix th paint

since I got the first chip on the bumper, I told myself I will get used to it....:wtf:

Hmm.. Would the paint on P5 be worse than a Cavalier's paint job? lol. I currently own a 02 Z24, and it's chipping pretty bad as well.. I'm in the market for a new P5 soon.. :)

Mine has chips too. I have a silver/gray MP5, so mine aren't quite as easy to see....but the fact that the paint is so thin is plain :bs: anyways.

Hasn't Mazda always had a problem their paint? Didn't they used to have a problem with the Miata's paint simply pealling off? :wtf:
