chicago style deep dish

alright there is always a thread about wheels and rim sizes but i have a new question, what is the largest lip i can get on a rim to fit my p5. i just saw a supra on the highway with a 3.5 or 4 inch lip it was sickness made me want to turn around and go home to make love to my woman

The most lip I saw on a P5 was and HP Design mesh wheel I think it was called "Lightning". It was about a 2" lip. I don't think the car will allow much more the that. Please post pics of deep-dished wheels on a P5. Thanks.

Rota D2's have a decent lip but you aren't going to see anything too large on Proteges. The large required offset is what kills us...

lol coming from having Rx7 and 240sx with all nice 3-4 inch lips rims, Im also in the same search as yours.

i had Tenzo R RS5 wheels with a nice lip (for a Proteg). You won't eb able to get a nice deep dish like Supras or BMW or anything like that, but if the spokes go towards the center of the wheel instead of going straight up to the edge or the rim, you can have something that looks nice. bah i dont know how to explain it. i'll just post a pic of the wheels

see how the spokes kinda curve towards the back of the wheel. gives you a nice 1 or 2" lip. I had black wheels with chrome lip. looked awesome when freshly washed on a yellow speed

my wheels are for sale btw if you're interested lol wrapped in Falken FK451

i get it, the spokes curve inward towards the center of the car. looks like i will have to buy another car to satisfy my lip fetish

i have 18" volks GT-C and they have a 1.5" lip due to the spoke going inward like everyone is talking about. you wont be able to fit bigger rims then that with a fat lip and still have it lowered, or it will end up rubbing against the fender...but i can be wrong. when i got my first set of 18s, i had to grind down the lip on the interior of the fender so that it wouldnt rub the tire when people were sitting in the back or when i was going up a driveway. here is a pic of my rims, and since its polished, its easier to notice.

i dont understand though wouldn t it be about the same to fit a wider wheel on the back of a fwd car as it is to a rwd car
RWD cars tend to have less of an offset than FWD vehicles. I don't know why, but that just seems to be the case. Also Protege have less fender room than most other cars.

I can fit a dollar bill in mine (sideways of course).
