Whoosh has me convinced of flow mods so I've started a new project. I procured an intake mani to work on and this joint will be off to the powdercoaterd tomorrow or Wednesday. I've removed the VTCS and the obstruction in the last runner. I'm plugging up one of the vac lines and I'll epoxy the interior of the port so it's smooth. I'll T the two lines together on one port. I'm also getting rid of the VTCS vac chamber on top of the mani and all of the associated s***. It'll look clean after I'm done. I've spent a fair bit of time hacking off the bosses on the top and milling out the TB port.
Giddyup motherfuckers!
Update:
I finished the mani and had it powdercoated. I used SSinstaller's trick defeat the VTCS CEL. Thank you. The vacuum chamber port on the top was welded and polished, as were the vacuum hose port on the front of the mani and the side where the VTCS rod, actuator, etc were. Came out pretty nice and the gains with the throttle flash are definitely noticeable.
As an aside, my intake mani was full of s*** from the egr. My catch can was doing it's job - I drained it at every fill up and lots of stuff came out - but the egr does deposit ridiculous amounts of crap. Whoosh, pretty please send me an egr block off plate. Cherryspeed has side by sides of the two manifolds and when I get them I'll post them up. It's a pretty significant removal of crap from the engine bay.
I also made a 3" turbo inlet pipe. It was very simple and I can't believe I haven't done it up til now. All I needed was the 3" to 2.25" reducer and a 3" 45 deg bend coupler for the connection to the CAI. The recirc hose fitting was welded on below.
