changing tranny oil

Is it safe to use the Poennzoil Synchromesh mixed with Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer in our cars? Isn't it designed for GM cars? I just bought 2 quarts of Synchromesh and 1 quart of Lucas heavy oil stabilizer and just want to make sure I don't mess up my transmission.

Or just get a suction gun. Tractor Supply sells them and you can get them on line at Amazon.com or elsewhere. Fwiw Mobil 1 has always worked for me regardless of temps.

What is everyones opinion on the 2 quarts of Synchromesh and 1 quart of Lucas heavy oil stabilizer combo? I saw in a thread of people using it but aren't our trannys supposed to use 75w90? The Synchromesh does not specify a weight.

75W-90 for any temp or 80W-90 for above 50*. I would stick with 2.9 qts of gear oil. I never had grinding or other transaxle noises and thus did not need bandaid oil approaches to try and solve them. That goes for using synchromesh and or a stabilizer. And the first time I changed mine I used a funnel with a hose from AutoZone to do it. Then I found out about the suction gun and haven't looked back.

Did you guys jack up the front of the car to get to the fill and drain plug? Just asking because I'm not sure if lifting the car up would affect how the oil would sit in the trans.

Yes and being elevated momentarily won't hurt it. If your question is related to seeing it coming out so you know its full; just don't add more than 2.9 qts and you'll be at recommended capacity.

3qts. will be fine. Anything extra and it'll just flow out. It's not like motor oil where adding too much can do damage.

Does anyone happen to know the size wrench or socket used to remove the fill/drain plug?
Also. Is there a trick to finding the fill plug for the tranny? I didn't look very hard because the sun was going down, but I'm used to Hondas where the fill plug is right above the drain.

Right in the front, I believe it was a 28mm. Don't remember exactly but it's a big one.

The fill plug is 23mm and the drain plug is 13mm? I'm not sure on the drain plug, but I do know that it is much smaller then the fill.

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble finding the fill hole. It's probably a combo between only having time while the sun is going down, and only having access to the jack that came with the car for the time being.

Is that picture pretty right on? I can find the drain bolt easily..I found what I think is the fill hole facing towards the front, but it's not as far forward as in the picture.
I'm going to assume I found the right one as the plugs look identical

I feel like I remember seeing it where I put the red dot at.
