2008 RX-8 40th Anniversary
Hello all,

I recently took the helm as editor of MazdaSport Magazine and I wanted to introduce myself, to get better acquainted to this community. My first editorial and design changes will appear starting with Volume 2, Issue 5, which is due later this year.

Im actually a big Mazda fan. Ive had a number of Mazdas in my garage through the years; including the Miata MX-5, RX7 GSL-SE (the first car I bought myself, back when I was 20) and the Mazda3 I currently own. Im in my mid-30s now, and, though I appreciate what magazines like Modified and Import Tuner contribute to the scene, I personally prefer the style of UK publications such as Car and EVO. Now, a few questions for you

For those familiar with MazdaSport: what do you like about the current format?

If you either have or have not seen MazdaSport: what would you like to see in this or any Mazda enthusiast publication?

What is your favorite magazine? Are you into Modified Magazine, Sport Compact Car, Grassroots Motorsports, the UKs TopGear or something altogether different?

Thanks for your input!

welcome aboard. sorry I cant help much on the mag seeing as I never seen it before. But I might pick it up now.

Subscription only or is it on newstands?

you can find it on newstands, but its practically impossible. i found the 2nd issue at a grocery store early last year and havent found one since. borders doesnt even carry it here.

I like the magazine but there is too much Miata coverage, although understandable.

I like Modified's paper quality and color, but their writing is boring.

Out of American-bred mags, SCC and GRM have the best writing style, and technically oriented articles.

Out of the UK mags you mentioned, they are good too. I think a culmination of SCC,GRM and CAR would make for a good mag!

i have a subscription to SCC because they have great tech articles. i liked the mazdasport issue i picked up, but as mentioned earlier, it had way to much miata coverage. i understand that most of the readers are miata-people, but in order to be a full mazda mag, it needs to cover all the bases.

I have never seen the mag, but based on the website, its a great jumping point into the MAzda World.

As far as US based Mags go, anything NOT PUBLISHED by PRIMEDIA is a decent mag. (The format change sucks ass. Kinda like a Stuff Mag) I like SCC, Modified, and most mags published by Buckaroo communications.

I hope you still do reviews and write up on products for the MazdaSpeed Protege and other no longer made models.... Don't just focus on the current models....

I guess the format couldn't of been that good since most of us never heard of it....

I'm in as long as you can support the statement above...

Welcome to the forum, Ryan!

I've been a subsriber to the magazine for a little over a year now and have enjoyed every issue....lots of great info.

Aside from MazdaSport, the only other magazine that I subscribe to is Grassroots (hence the challenge car in my sig).

Here's a suggestion, maybe you could do a peice on the ALMS 3-Rotor P2 Mazda that took 2nd at the Petit LeMans this weekend. Just a thought :) .
