Need a new thread for the new year, eh?

First meet of the year coming up February 21st (Saturday) and the rule of thumb for 2009 is we're having a meet EVERY third Saturday of the following months. That's planning!

Check out the forum on our website. I've added regional sections for those of you not quite close enough to make our local meets, but still want to meet with somebody.

Saturday February 21st, 2009​

Schedule of events:

10:00 am - Meet all those that want to start early at the mall (others can meet us for lunch). Usual place, parking lot adjacent to Shaker's Restaurant @ River Ridge Mall.
10:30-10:45 am- Leave for Appomattox Courthouse National Park (approx. 30 min. drive) This is on Route 24 near Appomattox, VA. Neat place for pictures and some of you history buffs may want to walk around the park. I believe the price is minimal, $3/person.
12:00 pm (flexible) - Head north on Route 24 to the geographical center of Virginia (approx. 30 min. drive). Did you see the map I added to the website? I'm intrigued by this, hope you are too. There isn't much to see really, just a way sign and an old barn/gas station. Not a big place to park either, just a couple of quick photo's.
12:30 pm - Head west/northwest to Devil's Backbone Brewing Company for a late lunch. DBBC (approx. 1 hr. drive) Despite the name, this not a sleazy bar.
1:30 - 3:00 pm - Lunch ... For those that don't want to drive the countryside, meet us at DBBC for lunch.
3:00 pm - After lunch you can scatter! Northern folks can head home from here obviously. Southern folks can drive over to the Blue Ridge Parkway (via Rt. 56) for a great ride home. Those tired and worn out can get back home using your quickest route.

i was in Lynchburg on Feb 21st but i didnt drive my Mazda down. i was down there for a funeral. if i woulda known sooner, i coulda met y'all at River Ridge for a bit and hung out for a bit. i had the yellow and silver flareside Ranger with Indiana plates if anyone saw me riding around Lynchburg that week...

Hey Zooma, what's the status of your 3? Back on the road runnin fine again?

And daonly1, Harrisonburg's just over the mountain! No reason why you can't zip down for a meet on the 21st. As it is you'll probably get 3rd place for longest drive. Come on, it's why we zoom!

the 3 is still down but its gonna get fixed soon! cant wait because i need to do some work on my Ranger. i got ALOT to do to it to get it ready for show season.

Saturday, March 21st!

Meet #2 is in Lynchburg @ River Ridge Mall parking lot. Small lot beside Shaker's restaurant. We'll have lunch at Shaker's around 12:00 and gather in the lot afterward with the cars around 1:00. Possible drive through the twisties later in the day.

I'm scared to start autoxing, afraid I'll become hopelessly addicted! The funds just aren't there. One item on my "to do" list is the Mazda Driver's course down at VIR in June though. I really need to try and make that one this year.

Hey daonly1, I've got a couple guys from C'Ville and Harrisonburg coming down to the meet Saturday. You could join in on the mini convoy.
