Cell Phone -USB Port

After I connect my cell phone (android) to the usb, it does not appear to be charging. I also notice on the panel it has a usb radio button but it is not lit. Can someone give me information on using the usb port. The manual is very vague.

The USB function on the audio screen will be active if you connect a flash drive or MP3 player to it.
Not sure why it won't charge your phone, except that possibly the USB does not provide enough power, or continuous power.... Use one of the 12v ports to charge the phone.

What phone do you have? Some phones like the Galaxy S3 don't use USB mode, but use a new mode called MTP instead. Mazda is incompatible with the MTP mode and so you can't make a data connection via USB. However; mine will still charge and I connect via Bluetooth. The 2013 connectivity to smart phones is pretty basic.

My cell phone begins charging as soon as I plug it in to either the USB port or the 12V outlet.
