cdfp question

cdfp...just wondering...people have run data logs with the new internals. what were you seeing for differences with the internals? mine are on the way and im wondering what to expect so when i log ill know what im looking for basically...

a quick difference is a bump in fuel pressure and does not drop in a middle of a run but the idea behind upgraded CDFP's are increase in volume, which we can't log.

You will want to see 1600-1800 wot. At idle you will want to see 390 to 425. I average 1700-1800 on mine.

You will know immediately if they are good or bad. The first sign will be an idle closer to 300 than 400. If you see like 310-320 idle, start worrying. If you see 380-430, you should be golden. Ether way after 40miles you will know 100% if they are good or bad. My bad set dropped to 800psi at WOT :(

Be sure to clean all parts good before you put them in. I used brake cleaner on mine and a clean cloth.

yea right now with my currect stock internals its running about 375-400 at idle and sometimes at WOT ill go as low as 1200 unless it realy dies in which i hit 700! booooo.

ill soak the parts in gas before i istall them....should work. the ones i purchased were brand new in the bag all set from the "recall" so it should be good to go according to the seller. **fingers crossed**

good i can finally run some maps besides stock

the car is a beast when i run the correct map but the fp goes too low for my liking and sometimes for the ecu's liking. sweet. ill let you know....if you care to check back. lol

I think a lot of the failures have been due to the shims shifting.
And a lot of those failures were with the high rev spring.
I didn't install the high rev spring and have not had any problems.
You might want to reconsider it if you are thinking about installing the high rev spring.
IMO the risks outweigh the gains.
Thats my $.02

what is the supposed benefit of the high rev spring. my purchase comes with the spring and i was actually contemplating the install of it because i couldnt see why i would use it with the amount of power ill be producing. i dont think ill run out of fuel with the ko4 turbo if i dont use the high rev spring...

i just picked up a set of internals off of a forum member and wasnt aware of any recall? and now am wondering about all off this. i was going to put them in and was planning of installing the high rev spring

there was some recall on the original design....im sure theres a way to check to see if you have the correct stuff.

I would not install the rev spring as they recommend checking it every oil change and I don't know many people who would want to pull their FP out and apart every 5k miles.

Mazdaspeed2007 - I thought you fell into the FP TSB? If it is your solenoid causing your issue, then the internals will not help you one bit and it will be hard to tell if they are the issue or not.

From what I have seen, when you need a FP the factory pump will start to dip right after a shift in gears when demand is the greatest and then go right back up to full pressure. When I got my factory pump replaced under the TSB my FP would dip in the middle of a run and slide down till I shifted. This was the solenoid not able to keep up with demand. I replaced the Factory Pump when I started to see a dip again immediately after a shift.

Do you have a log Mazdaspeed2007 of your Fuel Pressure Dips?

i found out that with my data logs i believe thew problme i was facing was the spark plug gap with my ngk's. i thought it was the fp because i guess when i ran a previous data log i had a freak pressure dip. i ran another data log against my will becausewhen i ran the car on a tune it would not feel nice at all. this time it ran like s*** but the fp wasnt to bad. idk. so im replacing my fp internals as i paid not to much for them anyway, replacing my plugs...ill see if that works and if it doesnt im going to do as we suggested in the previous thread we talked in. its seriously like an hour drive to get to my dealership and theres nothing around there so its a drive to the dealership and thats it. sucks. i needed new plugs anyway, plus fp internals are suggested with a tune anyway esp. if im going to work the tune over time. so as for now im keeping my fingers crossed for the tsb. i think they already cheched me for that when they checked the flutter valve tsb or whatever it was anyway....so im going to wait it out for now.

need to log FP with dashhawk or AP, or some kinda of OBD2 scanner/reader

im on my 3rd set of internals, first set was the originals that got recalled, 2nd set the retainer warped to the shape of the spring. Carpe Diem told me that was prob due to a clearance issue on the internals. had my 3rd set for about a month and a half, ive seen as high as 2k FP, but average about 1800. I do have the high rev spring installed, but its pointless on a street car really, its made so you don't have pressure drop at RPM's above 7200, but with limiter on this car you wont see that anyway. I installed it because it came with the kit, and i got some technical info from a tech at Carpe Diem about it when i received my 3rd kit and told me they Caution to check because its a possibility, not a guarantee.

in other words....does anyone want to buy my high pressure spring for 15 bucks? lol

when you log, look for anything below 1400 WOT. i say that in general but its more a when you go WOT, if you have a really low FP and it has to build gradually that tends to show a crap pump. Also when i had low pressure i would tend to see leaner AF, and get a lil knock

kew

then u need to either get a CP-E pump, or an internals kit. Internals kit is a 3rd of the price of the CP-E pump, but you have to be somewhat mechanically knowledge to change the internals.

best thing ive ever learned when i take stuff apart....always pay attention to how it came apart!!! lol. sounds dumb but sometimes people get happy and rip it all apart and then when its time to reassemble.....duuuuuuuhhhhh. lol.
